The third full-length studio album by legendary American Pop singer.
The album was originally set to be released in 1988, under the name "Kindred Spirit", but was delayed until 1989 and the songs from the initial project were reworked.
On "True Colors", Cyndi Lauper began to edge her way into adult contemporary territory, but it was on "A Night To Remember" that she concentrated all of her attention on becoming a self-consciously "mature" singer/songwriter. 
Although the album is called "A Night To Remember", Lauper jokingly preferred to call it "A Night To Forget", given its poor reviews and disappointing sales, compounded by the problems she encountered with producer and boyfriend David Wolf⁠f during the production of the album.
The album sold moderately well but did not enjoy the same commercial success of her two previous albums, despite the success of the album's lead Single, "I Drove All Night", which became a Top 10 hit, her last in the U.S.A., earning Lauper a Grammy nomination. In the UK, however, "A Night To Remember" was Lauper's highest-charting album, peaking at No.9. According to the book "St. James Encyclopedia of Popular Culture (Volume 3)", the album sold half a million copies in the United States in 1989.
Although not certified by RIAA, BPI, and others trade associations, the album was certified Platinum in Australia and United Kingdom and Gold in Germany, Italy, and United States. Worldwide, the album has sold more than 1.5 million copies.

In the weeks following, the album's sales remained stable thanks to the following four singles and Lauper's world tour and appearances on popular television and radio programs. Overall, the album stayed 77 weeks on the Billboard 200. It became one of the best-selling albums of 1984. At least until 1986, the album was the second best-selling album in Canada by a female artist during the decade, behind Whitney Houston's self-titled debut album, selling more than 900,000 copies. "She's So Unusual" has since sold over seven million copies in the United States, where it was certified seven times Platinum by the RIAA. The album has sold over 16 million copies worldwide.

In 2012, Slant Magazine listed it as the 22nd Best Album of the 1980s, calling it an "absolutely peerless collection of profound Pop jewels". In 2019, the Library of Congress selected "She's So Unusual" for preservation in the National Recording Registry for being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".

The seventh full-length studio album by legendary American Pop/Jazz singer.
The album is a collection of covers of Jazz standards, in addition to a cover of a contemporary song re-arranged into a Jazz song.
The album features a duet with Tony Bennett on "Makin' Whoopee" and was co-produced by Lauper with Russ Titelman.
To promote the album, Cyndi headlined "VH1 Divas Live 2004" alongside such artists as Patti LaBelle and Debbie Harry, performing "Stay" with Sheila E. on percussion.
The album debuted at #38 on the Billboard 200 with 47 000 copies sold in its first week, while the song "Walk On By" hit #10 on Billboard's "Hot Dance Club Play". By 2012, it had sold 276 000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
In 2008, Lauper said in an interview with Brazilian newspaper "Extra" that the album was a special project, with the intervention of the record company, and that she does not consider it as a "career album".

This DVD very popular with Cyndi Lauper fans, and it is well worth tracking down for casual fans too. It collects 12 of her best videos and puts them in the context of Lauper revisiting her hometown (actually Coney Island) while she discusses the importance of music in her life.
Of course, the collection starts with "Girls Just Want to Have Fun," her most popular hit. The transfer quality on this DVD is quite good, which makes all her videos shine. Twelve Deadly Cyns presents evidence that Lauper was, in fact, one of the important video auteurs of the early '80s. "She Bop" was a challenging song about onanism (and so says the DVD!) and the video was quite quirky and wonderful. Her re-recording of "Hey Now (Girls Just Want to Have Fun)" is a little too obvious, with its gay message clear in the first five seconds. Though no one has ever accused Lauper of being subtle, Twelve Deadly Cyns makes the case that there was more to her musically than people gave her credit for. Other videos include "I Drove All Night," "Money Changes Everything," and "True Colors."
In addition to all of Lauper's music videos to date, the DVD included interview footage shot in and around Coney Island. A written bio is also included as an extra.
Do yourself a favour and check out "Twelve Deadly Cyns" — this is a solid video collection with a surprisingly large number of good quality songs!
