The early 80’s were a crucial time for Metal. Everything was going to change and evolve into something completely different from what had been made in the previous decade. A new era for the subgenre began, a new sound determined in a couple of records. Those two had a big impact and influenced a whole generation, setting the rules, making clear that Heavy Metal should offer something straight and aggressive to prevail during that new decade that was about to start. Scorpions’ seventh record satisfied the requirements of those days ideally.
This one is quite unpredictable. Most people might have expected an absolutely similar work to its predecessor, after the crushing success it achieved. Surprise, this doesn’t sound like the previous LP at all. There’s a few similarities, though, like the loose tempos and omnipresent massive riffing. The frantic Speed Metal track “Don’t Make No Promises (Your Body Can’t Keep)” reaches the same brilliance of “Another Piece Of Meat”, with a much more evident melody and less brutality, for instance. But the rest of numbers feature something alternative and unusual from Scorpions’ own sound. The general pattern is totally determined to give riffs absolute control. Most of these compositions are based and constructed on Jabs & Schenker’s guitar lines. Everything else is hanging on them, including vocals themselves, as you can check on “Twentieth Century Man” and “Hold Me Tight”. Obviously, the riffs are modified during the tunes to introduce alternative structures and get some continuity. However, the variations are not particularly numerous. In conclusion, this music becomes completely direct, it goes straight forward, becoming truly heavy and insistent. Riffs, is what this stuff is mostly about. And that’s no problem, the spectacular combo provide them of unremitting solidity and persistent consistency with no exception during the whole pack. The culmination arrives with the total catharsis of “The Zoo” and that supremely splendid terrifying huge riff, so damn weighty and powerful, hitting like a hammer. The title-track also achieves such an outstanding climax of intensity, with an exotic, kinda arabic, leading riff, supported by Meine’s tortured voice. Both unique moments in the history of the German metallers, along with the only ballad here, “Lady Starlight”. One of the most touching they ever recorded, with Klaus’ vocals incredibly sweet and emotional on an immaculately arranged love song, that includes an orchestra in the background giving it an unforgettable climax. Simply priceless!
The exceptional cover artwork by Hipgnosis’ Mr. Thorgerson makes this LP even more seductive and provocative, not as explicit and scandalous as the previous album, but still has some subliminal sexual message...

"Blackout" was the Scorpions' first majorly successful album, due to its clever balance of Pop/Rock (the title track), power ballads ("When the Smoke Is Going Down"), and catchy Heavy Metal ("Dynamite", "No One Like You").
Vocalist Klaus Meine had a throat operation prior to the record's release, and surprisingly, his voice sounds more melodic and lively than ever. The rest of the band sounds great as well, and the album is highlighted by the fast-paced performances of guitarists Rudolf Schenker and Matthias Jabs.
After losing his voice during the writing of the album, lead vocalist Klaus Meine had to undergo surgery on his vocal cords and it was uncertain whether he would be able to record it. Demos of the material were recorded with Don Dokken as vocalist; however none of those recordings are featured on the album.
Rudolf Schenker could not choose between his guitar solos on "China White", so the US and European releases differed in this small detail.
A self-portrait of artist Gottfried Helnwein is featured on the cover of the album. Rudolf Schenker portrays this character in the "No One Like You" music video.
The RIAA certified Blackout Gold on June 24, 1982 and Platinum on March 8, 1984.
"Blackout" has arguably been called the Scorpions' best record ever, and that statement is not unjust - it has more energy than anything else they have ever released!!

Although the Scorpions had already achieved fame after 1982's "Blackout", "Love At First Sting" brought them their biggest single of the decade, the slick anthem "Rock You Like a Hurricane," with some greatly underrated songs to back it up. The album opens with the hair-raising "Bad Boys Running Wild" and continues with songs such as the memorable "Big City Nights" and the half-ballad, half-powerhouse rocker "Coming Home". The record also contains what just may be the band's best ballad ever, the tear-jerking "Still Loving You". “Love at First Sting” became the most successful album of the band in the USA where it peaked at number 6 on the Billboard 200 chart in 1984 and went triple Platinum. Prior to "Lovedrive"'s recording, the Scorpions' line-up had a major change when their lead guitarist, Uli Jon Roth, quit the band (not to mention, the rock genre was rapidly changing). Michael Schenker, younger brother of rhythm guitarist Rudolf Schenker, performed lead guitar on 3 songs. This is the first album to feature Matthias Jabs on lead guitar, and by extent, first to feature the band's "classic" line-up. With this in mind, the band not only highlighted the album with the licks and riffs of three guitarists (Rudolf Schenker, Michael Schenker, Matthias Jabs), but they also dramatically changed their style to sound more like that of Van Halen. This change is quite welcome; not only are the performances more unpredictable, but the lyrics and melodies are better written. In fact, some of the Scorpions' best songs, such as "Loving You Sunday Morning", "Holiday" and "Coast to Coast" are found here, making it one of their finest.

Re-release of the eleventh full-length studio album by legendary German Hard’n’Heavy band.
The band's first album in a decade and a half to not be produced by Dieter Dierks and is widely considered to be the last "classic" Scorpions album. It was the last studio album to feature the "Lovedrive" - era lineup, with bassist Francis Buchholz leaving the band in January 1992.
After the release of "Savage Amusement" in 1988, the Scorpions expressed disdain toward the album, feeling that it was too polished when compared to their other work. Their longtime producer, Dieter Dierks, was replaced with well-known Rock producer Keith Olsen, who would produce "Crazy World" and assist in making it one of the Scorpions' greatest recordings. Their music had certainly changed since "Savage Amusement", sounding a little bit heavier and less glamorous. But even with the Metal sound, the songs remain melodic and catchy. The power ballads on the album, "Wind of Change" and "Send Me an Angel", are arguably two of the band's greatest slow numbers, boasting soothing harmony and lyrics. 
"Crazy World" peaked at number 21 on Billboard 200 Chart in 1991. The song "Wind of Change" reached number four on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1991, and "Send Me an Angel" reached number 44 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. In the UK, it remains the only Scorpions album to attain Silver certification (60,000 units sold) by the British Phonographic Industry, achieving this in November 1991. In the United States, it is the band's second best-selling album to 1984's "Love At First Sting", and their last one to be certified at least Gold by the RIAA.
"Crazy World" remains the Scorpions' finest '90s album and is sure to please its listeners!

The twelfth full-length album by the legendary German Melodic Hard Rock band.
Scorpions' 12th studio album in 21 years, tried to pick up where "Crazy World" had left off, continuing to pursue a harder and more dynamic sound. Probably a bit influenced by Seattle's emerging Grunge scene, Scorpions turned to an even more Heavy guitar-based sound and even louder drumming in its mix, in an attempt to follow music trends of that time. Unfortunately, however, "Face The Heat" doesn't manage to be as consistent as its predecessor: after a very heavy and positive start, it starts to deteriorate and it doesn't seem able to pick itself up and match that initial promising start. It's an album that presents some very good tracks and a considerable amount of inspired moments, but its inconsistency often keeps it from achieving its full potential. Certainly, it's a decent album, but judging from its opening 5 or 6 tracks, it could've been a lot better.
This album marked band's status as a sort of political band with the song "Alien Nation", which was about the re-unification of Germany. Album had a contemporary touch to it, as the band were then going with the current trends, before later returning to their original style in "Unbreakable" in 2004.
This is also the last album to feature drummer Herman Rarebell, and the first with Ralph Rieckermann on bass guitar.
The song "Under the Same Sun" was played during the ending credits of the 1994 film "On Deadly Ground".
Still a nice addition to Scorpions' long discography!

The second full-length album by the legendary German Hard Rock band.
This album is very diverse in its sound and song structures, probably due to the new members' influences from Uli's band Dawn Road, and the band looking for material to fill an album as much as musical direction. This album was created as two bands came together: two members from Scorpions, who had recorded "Lonesome Crow", and three members from Dawn Road. So technically the band could have taken the name Dawn Road rather than Scorpions. To make matters a bit more complicated, the keyboardist who wasn't actually a full member also came from Dawn Road, and some songs were co-written by a former Scorpions member, Rudolf's brother Michael. The result is somewhat eclectic and it is feasible to discern which elements are from the Roth/Dawn Road camp and which ones are from the Scorpions camp (and with or without Michael).
There are elements on this album which Scorpions never tried before or after; such as the Spanish-like chord progression on "They Need a Million" (Therion would rather copy that on "Melez"; it also became the staple of a song like Amorphis' "Nightfall"; though probably indirectly influenced by Kingston Wall's "Another Piece of Cake"). There are also some major hippie moments, aside of the lyrics and album cover, such as the tripping section at the beginning of "Far Away", which can't really be found on any other Scorpions album. Overall, this is also the Scorpions album with the most acoustic guitars on it.
The drum production is courtesy of engineer Mack, who is also responsible for the superb live drum sound on Black Sabbath's "Dehumanizer" recorded 18 years after and to the drum sound on Deep Purple's "Stormbringer", recorded just a few months later in the same studio. In retrospect, Jürgen Rosenthal, who plays on this album, was the most promising of all three drummers who played in Scorpions while Roth was there. His style is very energetic, and little things like the cowbell at the end of the "Speedy's Coming" chorus are nice touches. Too bad he was drafted in the army.. but his stuff with Eloy is pretty good too.
More lineup changes were in store for the band throughout the decade, but it must be noted this was their first collaboration with bassist Francis Bucholtz, one of the members of the band's most successful era.
There are no Jazz elements or psychedelic influences, and the Black Sabbath like guitar tone is gone. Most of this record consists of more drawn out songs with a peaceful texture. One of the important aspects of Scorpions is revealed here too and that is conveying emotion.
This is a strong sophomore effort from the German lads. The peaceful and tranquil tone of the album accompanied by Meine’s majestic vocals and Roth’s inspiring guitar playing is very satisfying. Even though this is not what Scorpions are known, this is still an enjoyable record and they would keep on getting better!!

The sixteenth full-length album by the legendary German Hard’n’Heavy band.
Album was released in Europe on May 14, 2007 and in the United States and Canada on August 28, 2007. "Humanity: Hour 1" is a concept album based on a loose storyline by Desmond Child and futurist Liam Carl, which predicts a world torn apart by a civil war between humans and robots. This apocalyptic nightmare serves as a warning shot to all mankind, whose only hope of survival is to reclaim our humanity.
The album was produced by James Michael and Desmond Child, who also provide backing vocals. The sound is very different from the band’s older albums and even from previous album, "Unbreakable". The guitars are clean and very bright with a modern feeling to them. There are of course Rock songs and ballads as all the other Scorpions albums but this time it is like 50/50. Most of the songs are played in slow or mid tempos and there are not any fast ones. This of course is not a problem because the album has a certain and strong feeling, the old Hard Rock songs of Scorpions are combined with new and modern sound.
This is definitely a good buy for a Scorpions fan though!!

The eighteenth full-length studio album by legendary German Hard Rock/Heavy Metal band.
German Heavy Metal icons Scorpions hit the 50-year mark in 2015, being initially conceived all the way back in 1965 by a 16-year-old Rudolf Schenker as a beat band very much in line with the trends of the time, and slowly evolving into a Hard Rock force to contend with by the end of the '70s. Multi-Platinum-selling singles and omnipresent commercial success peaked out for the Scorpions sometime in the early '80s, but they kept the flame alive for a dedicated army of followers for decades to come.
"Sting In The Tail" was a declarative return to the radio Metal roots of the band's most popular work from the '80s. "Return To Forever" follows suit very much, with the 12 new songs here embodying the same over the top celebration and hedonistic revelry of a much younger Scorpions. Production handled by longtime Scorpions collaborators Mikael Nord Andersson and Martin Hansen replaces some of the thin production choices of the '80s with smarter arrangements and better sound on radio-ready Pop-metal jams like "Rollin' Home" and more introspective tunes like "Eye of the Storm." The songwriting here is on par with some of the band's best work, which figures, as they've been working in a field they helped originate for decades.
Fans of the band's best-loved material will immediately connect with the fun-loving party burners and soft-edged power balladry of the album, all leaning just enough on the band's own storied past for influence but inspired enough to avoid dipping into self-parody. They pretty much wrote the book on sleazy FM radio Metal, so in the case of revisiting their glory days on "Return To Forever", who's to blame the Scorpions for taking a few pages from the book they wrote themselves?
"Return To Forever" is classic Scorpions. They have come up with an album that oozes 1980s and it is just what their fans want from them! The soaring guitars, Meine’s accent cutting through; it will take the listener right back to when Rock was king, beautifully nostalgic. Return to Forever does not break new ground, but it certainly proves the Scorpions have a lot of life left in them and they are not ready to hang up the guitars just yet!!
The album marks the final release of the band with longtime drummer James Kottak, who was replaced in 2016 by former Motörhead drummer Mikkey Dee.

The eighteenth full-length studio album by legendary German Hard Rock/Heavy Metal band.
German Heavy Metal icons Scorpions hit the 50-year mark in 2015, being initially conceived all the way back in 1965 by a 16-year-old Rudolf Schenker as a beat band very much in line with the trends of the time, and slowly evolving into a Hard Rock force to contend with by the end of the '70s. Multi-Platinum-selling singles and omnipresent commercial success peaked out for the Scorpions sometime in the early '80s, but they kept the flame alive for a dedicated army of followers for decades to come.
"Sting In The Tail" was a declarative return to the radio Metal roots of the band's most popular work from the '80s. "Return To Forever" follows suit very much, with the 12 new songs here embodying the same over the top celebration and hedonistic revelry of a much younger Scorpions. Production handled by longtime Scorpions collaborators Mikael Nord Andersson and Martin Hansen replaces some of the thin production choices of the '80s with smarter arrangements and better sound on radio-ready Pop-metal jams like "Rollin' Home" and more introspective tunes like "Eye of the Storm." The songwriting here is on par with some of the band's best work, which figures, as they've been working in a field they helped originate for decades.
Fans of the band's best-loved material will immediately connect with the fun-loving party burners and soft-edged power balladry of the album, all leaning just enough on the band's own storied past for influence but inspired enough to avoid dipping into self-parody. They pretty much wrote the book on sleazy FM radio Metal, so in the case of revisiting their glory days on "Return To Forever", who's to blame the Scorpions for taking a few pages from the book they wrote themselves?
"Return To Forever" is classic Scorpions. They have come up with an album that oozes 1980s and it is just what their fans want from them! The soaring guitars, Meine’s accent cutting through; it will take the listener right back to when Rock was king, beautifully nostalgic. Return to Forever does not break new ground, but it certainly proves the Scorpions have a lot of life left in them and they are not ready to hang up the guitars just yet!!
The album marks the final release of the band with longtime drummer James Kottak, who was replaced in 2016 by former Motörhead drummer Mikkey Dee.

In this album, Scorpions return to their original, rawer style of music after many concept albums and experimenting with different styles. After the bad “Eye To Eye“ the Scorpions finally try it with honest Hard Rock on “Unbreakable“.  Songs like the fast “Someday Is Now” will blows through your ears, “My City My Town” is perfect for relaxed cruising on the highway with its nice chorus and the good bridge, “Through My Eyes”, which alternates between acoustic guitars and hefty heavier riffs, only put you in a good mood. Especially the latter song should find its way into the Hanover based band’s live set, because it is closest to the old grenades of the 80s. But also with songs like the dramatic opener “New Generation”, the melancholic rocker “Deep And Dark” or the very energetic, but still very melodic “Borderline” they deliver the goods, depending on your mood.
The Scorpions have a very unique sound, and this album is an expansion on that wonderful sound. The riffs are new and fresh, and although they lost a bit of the metal feel they still have that old feel to them. They did add a modern feel to it with some more effects, which is very noticeable during the solo on "Can You Feel It". Speaking of solos they're great, a bit shorter than normal but still great on the ears!
This was the first album with Pawel Maciwoda on bass guitar.
Overall this album kicks ass! Go get it right now! If you’re a fan of the older Scorpions you won’t be disappointed. They've got some monster hits on this album and let’s just hope that they keep on coming. The scorpion has re-adjusted its poisonous sting!!

The fourth full-length studio album by the legendary German Hard Rock band.
It was released in 1976 and was the first album of the band to attract attention outside Europe.
The album was a step in the band's shift from Psychedelic music to Hard Rock. For the first time in the band's career, the line-up stayed the same with Klaus Meine on vocals, Uli Jon Roth on lead guitar, Rudolf Schenker on rhythm guitar, Francis Buchholz on bass, and Rudy Lenners on drums. The nine tracks were laid down with Dieter Dierks producing.
The band is in top form and churns out some melodic yet blistering Heavy Rock. "Virgin Killer" is full of heavy songs and exceptionally fast, innovative guitar leads by Uli Jon Roth. These songs are infectious and Uli's guitar solo on the Jimi Hendrix inspired "Polar Nights" exhibits the thunder-heavy riffs and grooves that make it a classic!
The title is described as being a reference to time as the killer of innocence. The original cover featured a nude prepubescent  ten-year-old girl with a shattered glass effect obscuring her genitalia, which stirred controversy in the UK, U.S. and elsewhere. As a result, the album was re-issued with a different cover in some countries.
"Virgin Killer" is just a milestone. In every sense of the word, it wows the listener with a fresh, rocking sound and an all around tighter musical base. It lacks the Psychedelic noodling that we loved on "In Trance", but the songs are catchier, more polished and Klaus Meine’s vocals are the best they’d ever get in the 70s. His light, attitude-filled crooning sails deftly over the crisp guitar riffs and energetic drumming. This whole album is just really tailored to perfection all around. The songs are short and manageable.
The Hendrix comparisons are endless, "Virgin Killer" is simply essential listening! Truly one of the revolutionary, early Heavy Metal albums; a landmark album for the genre's development that made Uli Jon Roth a guitar legend!!

So in this case we tried to re-invent the Scorpions sound from the '80s, using the same DNA after putting in a modern twist, to make it sound like today's music." The album has a duet featuring the Finnish symphonic metal singer Tarja Turunen, in the song "The Good Die Young".
A tentative title for the album was Humanity: Hour II, however this was eventually scrapped.
First week sales in the United States were 18,500 copies sold placing it at No. 23 on the Billboard 200. In Germany the album debuted at No. 2, but fell in its second week to No. 3, in France at No. 16 and in Greece at No. 1. The album also peaked at Number 2 on the Billboard Rock Charts.
