The aggressively entitled "Cutthroat Melodies" continues the trend of muscular Modern Metal. Influences of Machine Head and Pantera are still audible, yet the band has developed a mature sound of their own. "Cutthroat Melodies" is a splinter bomb that scatters in your system. From the crunchy riffs of "Twinge" on we hear a spirited band at work. Vocals of Barton can still be situated in the rougher areas with a Hardcore edge, yet you notice that the front man did the utmost to bring in some variegation. Especially in "Prime Integers", the influence of Pantera is obvious, but a fine guitar solo adds a zest to the tight Metal. Also the next songs continue in this tradition. Guitarists Wodzrej and Dani again regale us with loads of beautiful soloing.
Chain Reaction will get where they want to be, they have the talent and the spirit. "Cutthroat Melodies" is proof of the aural power of the Metal riff.

Modern, powerful, aggressive, but still melodic!
The album contains a nice mixture of fast guitar solo parts and melodic ones, which sometimes even remind of classical Heavy Metal. Otherwise the band is influenced by rather modern bands: Chain Reaction can be assigned to the New or Modern Thrash genre. They can be compared to bands like Machine Head or maybe Fear Factory. Singer Bartok prefers the metal- or hardcore vocal style: growls with still listenable dirty voice. But there's enough variety with high grind cries, spoken vocals or a melodic vocal part in "Stark Reality," which is accompanied by a clean guitar line.
While listening to the album it becomes clear that one deals with a really up-and-coming newcomer. Chain Reaction has got a quite unique style and "Vicious Circle" is an album which can not only convince fans of the Modern Thrash genre, but Metal fans in general!!
