The third full-length studio album by cult Australian Brutal Death Metal band.
This is a first official release of the album, after it was self-released by the band a year ago.
Abramelin began in 1988 under the name Acheron but changed to their current name in 1994 due to a clash with an international act of the same name. That same year they released their first EP, "Transgressions From Acheron", which many fans still consider a classic. Abramelin was a powerful, driving force in the 90s, playing alongside a host of well-known Aussie acts from various genres, as well as international Metal giants like Morbid Angel, Cradle Of Filth, Cannibal Corpse, Carcass and Paradise Lost. In 1995, they released a debut full-length, "Abramelin", and then disbanded.
Hard to say if they blew their chance at broader recognition given the attention their brand of "Deicide meets Carcass at the house of Cannibal Corpse" Death Metal received during that fertile period of the genre's rich history, but they’re back in 2020, stronger than ever.
Abramelin are back with a collection of songs that honour the reputation the band forged throughout the 90s. A brutal and extremely violent album even by Death Metal standards, it was recorded at various studios in Melbourne and then sent off to Unisound in Sweden to be mixed and mastered by the master of Metal, Dan Swanö.
Really cool comeback album, gory, brutal and full of bone-crushing tunes. Moreover, the band avoided the temptation to unnecessarily recreate musical history, as they crafted an album that sounds like it is from the present day!
