After finding themselves a qualified Heavy Metal producer in Pete Hinton, the members of Saxon recovered from their disappointing debut in fine form with 1980s career-defining "Wheels Of Steel". As well as effectively setting the template for the band's most successful efforts, the album's songs positively gleamed with a bright, Metallic sheen similar to that exhibited by the chrome eagle hoisting a motorcycle wheel on its iconic cover!
The album eventually went on to achieve Gold status in the UK.

After enjoying their first brief hiatus from the endless tour/record/tour/record grind, the members of Saxon reconvened in late 1982 to begin working on their fifth studio album.
Certainly one of Saxon’s greatest moments in the early 80s, perfecting their solid steel formula of writing songs that are of the highest order in British Metal. Like any of their early discography, add this one to your list!
The album peaked at #15 in the UK Albums Chart. It reached No. 1 in the Metal charts in Sweden, Norway, France and Germany, selling over 1.5 million copies worldwide. It was their first album to enter the Billboard 200 in the US, peaking at #155. In 2005, "Power & The Glory" was ranked number 376 in Rock Hard Magazine's book "The 500 Greatest Rock & Metal Albums of All Time".
