First European re-release of the second full-length album by Israeli Melodic Progressive Epic Black Metal band.
Blending Progressive Metal and more traditional Metal styles into melodic orchestrated Black Metal with a dynamic vocal approach!
Beautiful layered Progressive influences, clean vocals and melodic structures reminiscent of the band’s preeminent landsmen Orphaned Land (specifically in the acoustic part and guitar solo from “Wreckages Ghost”, for example), intertwine nicely into blast beat driven Black Metal in the vein of classic Emperor, and with a melodic sense more akin to Insomnium than to many of the traditional orchestral Black Metal bands. This of course means that these guys are not playing traditional Black Metal. 
Tracks like “Hunting the Human” have great, but more simplistic, orchestrations which give the record a unique feel, while still having very cool Death Metal feeling riffs and addictive melodies and smoother parts. The track that follows (“Execution”) has some amazing bass vocals and an addictive Spanish guitar interlude, while still maintaining a militaristic rhythm similar to the kind of thing you hear on old Dimmu Borgir records. And yet somehow, like many of the best bands that are coming out these days, all of these disparate parts come together to form a cohesive whole that rules.
The novelty and frankly writing talent, that this band exhibits on "Underwatermoon", is stellar, and this leads to be one of the most unique and entertaining records of 2010 so far! Don’t let this one fly under your radar if you dig bands like Orphaned Land, Enslaved, Istapp, Gloria Morti, Emperor or Opeth; you will certainly regret it if you do!!

The third full-length album by Belgian Heavy Metal band.
Known for their theatrical performances, this is an 80's sounding Heavy/Speed Metal band! Belgium's Witchsmeller Pursuivant takes their name from the BBC series "Black Adder" and has created a killer album of pure old school Heavy Metal. Sounding more like an album released in the 80's than it does a recent release, "Manifest Of Evil" is eight tracks of balls to the wall Metal that just kills from beginning to end. Kind of a hard band to describe, but its close if to call it a Speed Metal version of Mercyful Fate, but an even closer sound would be Martyr ("For The Universe"), with good hooks and choruses.
This is Metal without the frills and trends that have ruined so much in the Metal world. Luciver's vocals are strong and are perfectly suited to fit in with the riffs being played by the guitar duo of Paul Evrard and Johan Kall. Providing a strong backdrop for their solos are Geezer Mike on bass and Luc Geenen on drums. Instead of being placed in the background, the bass and drums on this album are mixed at the perfect level and are every bit as outstanding as the rest of the band. Listening to "Manifest Of Evil" is like stepping back in time. This is another good release from Shiver Records and it's recommend out!!

The debut full-length album by Italian Groove Metal band.
With All The Rage contains in the name the deeper meaning of grudge fed by the guys towards Sicily, a land stained by the conspiracy of silence and bigotry: anger. And the "anger" characterizes the With All The Rage's sound, where a good mix of Northern European Metalcore and robust American Thrash Metal meets an open-minded melody and a solid Groove.
The talented Italians have put their blood, sweat, and tears on this record to feed your Groove hungry ears. The Groove elements shine through like freshly discovered emerald, and the Metalcore elements added here do not halt this release from sounding fresh and entertaining. Guitar work for example varies and switches nicely between the two halves of the albums. Drum work is done really, not too fast, not too slow for a Groove Metal album.
“Plug In Your Ass” is the perfect example for this album’s main sound. The guitars and bass here are pretty amazing and go hand in hand like warriors on the battlefield, due to how audible the bass is, and how the guitars are very catchy, melodic, aggressive, and memorable. Tracks like “Who Killed My Dog?” also differ with their straightforward mosh-inviting attitude. These two tracks should basically summarize the album’s overall sound.
With All The Rage have done their best and this release is definitely great. It has proved to be highly entertaining, musically prominent compared to other Groove Metal releases, and with proper recording and support, this band will shine like ancient mythril! So give this a chance, and enjoy!!

But this doesn't change much, really – the second album by these Russians’ is just a cliché of a genre. Psychotropic influence is obligatory when listening to such music live!)

The second full-length studio album by German Rock band.
Cologne dialect for "thawed", "Affjetaut" was released in 1980 and reached number eleven on the German album charts.
All the songs on the album were written by singer Wolfgang Niedecken and guitarist and songwriter Klaus "Major" Heuser, who joined BAP in 1980 and took over the band's musical direction. His Rock-oriented influence is clearly evident here for the first time. Shortly before production began in October 1980, there had been many personnel changes in the band, which also influenced the album's style. Guest musicians included were Matthias Keul on keyboards and harmonica on "Vun mir uss Kitsch" and Büdi Siebert played saxophone. While the first album was produced in Cologne, "Affjetaut" was recorded at Sunrise Studios in Kirchberg, St. Gallen, Switzerland.
The release includes a huge A1 poster with photos and lyrics in Cologne dialect and standard German.

The third full-length album by Swedish Dark Progressive Metal/Rock band.
"Still" finds Wolverine moving into Progressive Rock territory but still managing to capture some of the aggression of their past two albums.
The album has an eclectic feel, merging perfect genre influences together in an original form that only a band of Wolverine's caliber could manage. You can hear Dream Theater era "Awake" in a lot of the keyboard work (note the outro to "She Slowly Dies" or the keyboard intensity of "This Cold Heart of Mine"), Porcupine Tree harmonies ("Taste of Sand") …and Pink Floyd… all over the disc. The riff that kicks “A House of Plague” off is the best riff Opeth never wrote. The melancholic sense of despair is pure Anathema, though, with a sense of dark urgency they haven't been able to match since "Eternity".
The album is desperate and quiet with the Rhodes keyboard tones of "Nothing More” and aggressive and belligerent with its riffs in "Liar on the Mount", which overcomes the handicap of featuring the worst moment of the record, a vocal sample George W Bush. The pulsing electronic groove of "Sleepy Town" helps make the second half of the disc even stronger than the first, closing with the powerful "This Cold Heart of Mine" with its driving keyboard atmosphere, and the epic “And She Slowly Dies” which has one of the most powerful choruses written by a Prog band in recent memory.
Stefan Zell is one of the most compelling vocalists in the business right now. His ability to draw emotion from each word he sings pulls the listener deeper into the song, going beyond great riffs and technical chops. Zell, compared to previous albums, sounds like he has just gotten better and better; "Still" being his unofficial coming out party into the world of top Metal vocalists.
If you're into "Awake" era Dream Theater, mid era Anathema ("Eternity", "Alternative 4") and newer Porcupine Tree, this album is perfect for you! Dark, brooding and reflective with an intense edge, Wolverine has managed to create a masterpiece of modern Progressive Metal, in the truest sense of the genre label!!

The debut full-length album by Spanish Atmospheric Doom/Death Metal band.
In "Deception Through Your Lies" musicians move towards enrichment of Atmospheric Doom Death Metal by different techniques and methods, making the composition diverse and rich. Heavy but melancholic music filled with endless melody will appeal to anyone who appreciates not only the outer side of Doom Death Metal consisting of catchy riffs and dense guitar sound, but also its sensual side awakening thoughts and feelings.
Culling very heavily from the Scandinavian and British Doom scene of yore, Womb has a distinctly Finnish sound; long songs with crunchy guitars, super deep growls and layers of rending melodies over patient, plodding riffs and a light gloss of pianos and cellos.
Opener “Echoes of Our Scars” pretty well capture’s the band’s sullen mope perfectly with a delicate piano tinkle amid some lethargic crumbling and a little acoustic break and mood shift about 5 minutes in that’s very well done. “Ends” and closer “Forgotten By her Bliss” ( the band is dialed into the depressive theme as well as the sound as you can see from the song titles) all deliver some top notch, really despondent melodies that compete with anything from their peers as far as getting you right in the feels. But it’s not a complete drone fest as third track, “March” even has a more uptempo, but still rending burst and “Equisdistant” adds a bit of a mid paced chug towards it climax.
The atmospheric moments are short and sweet by way of either a piano, under started clean female vocals (“March”) or short acoustic bridge. So in all an pretty damn solid example for the genre, and one we'll look forward to hearing more off!

In general, "A Near Life Experience" turned out to be a fairly standard studio work for the genre, but it is at the highest level, that is sure to be appreciated by fans of the style. Pleasant listening!
