Deluxe Edition re-release of the first EP by legendary Swiss Symphonic Industrial Black Metal band.
"Rebellion" is an interesting little median between Samael's strongest albums, a relic from a time, when most bands still seemed to care about releasing short-form works that had some unique content and genuine value. At the time it was easily the most experimental and varied of their recordings, if only because they saw fit to really test the waters beyond Metal with some of Xytras' evocative, ritualistic Ambient music with beats, having a few pretty decent, harder hitting tunes which mark that transition from "Ceremony Of Opposites" to the sheer brilliance.
Though it merely collected the leftover tracks from 1994's "Ceremony Of Opposites", the "Rebellion" EP still serves as a tasty morsel of what Samael was about to accomplish musically. Tracks like "Rebellion" and "Static Journey" advance the Swiss Black Metal merchants' experiments with synths and electronic drumbeats, and an amusing cover of Alice Cooper's "I Love the Dead" adds a little variety to boot.
This is one of the first step in the new path taken by the band after their Black Metal early days and one of the most unique releases in the genre. Without a doubt, one of the best EP’s ever released!

When Shadow Rebels set out to craft an album, they don't just create music – they compose sonic narratives that resonate with poignant themes and dynamic soundscapes. "Black & White Times" marks a significant chapter in the band's storied career, with moving to more Classical Hard Rock and Post-Grunge, and less Progressive style, blending contemporary realities with deep-seated emotions.

It is the final album with longtime guitarist Rustam Safaraliev, who played on six tracks, and it introduces the new guitarist, Uzi Eliyahu, who completes the album with his contributions to two tracks. The raw, evocative lyrics coupled with powerful instrumentation conjure a vivid picture of chaos and resolve. "Cry" bravely explores the manipulation of emotional expression, using tears as a metaphorical weapon. It's a haunting track that will leave listeners with much to ponder. “Tomorrow” begins like meditating Indian chant; this ballad takes us deep into ironic lyrics about human relationships. In the wake of recent global events, "Deepest Gloom" dives into themes of depression and mental health. Shadows Rebels are unafraid to confront the dark realities that many face, offering both solace and solidarity. As a shift in tone, energetic and uplifting, "Water Spirit" pays homage to the healing power of nature. It's both a breath of fresh air and a call to reconnect with our natural roots. "Plastic Duck" is an intriguing track that tells the quirky story of someone afraid of a plastic duck – metaphorically referring to a girl heavily reliant on cosmetics and appearing out of proportion. It's a clever critique wrapped in a playful package. The eponymous track, "Black & White Times", is a proto-Hard Rock masterpiece, painted with layers of classic power trio sound. It's a fitting close to the era, encapsulating the varied themes and stylistic breadth of the entire album.

Shadow Rebels decided to approach the recording of the new album in the most Grunge style. Unlike the previous release, which was recorded in a pure studio style, with many overdubs and individual recordings of the musicians, this time all the musicians entered the studio and simultaneously played all the songs one by one, in one day, on a tape recorder.
There are a lot of powerful and fast numbers, Stoner riffs, and heartfelt ballads about the fragility of life. No pathos, only self-irony, despair, reflections on the eternal: about enemies, about friends, about God and the loss of faith, about hope in times, when no place for hope. The first official Shadow Rebels release, “Oversleep Hurricane”, represents a new level in the band’s development. After a 4 years break, the band has assembled in a new lineup and this time they abandoned their "guitar-less" sound. Thanks to this decision, the trio’s sound became harder and tighter. Dynamic and bright Grunge abounds with interesting melodies laid upon tough guitar riffs. Filigree work of the bass guitar emphasizes the will of the band to distinguish each of the bandmates. 
It’s impossible to classify the music to any one genre and template, as the band incorporates elements of Fusion and Jazz Rock, especially in the guitar solos, as well as Alternative and Progressive Rock features. Add the unchanging tribute to the Hard Rock roots, which are especially evident in the Gillan-esque vocals. Ethnic elements find their way into the fold of a very versatile sounding album thanks to the addition of sitar and percussion. Live violins add even more expression to the ballad tracks on the album.
The album was recorded on an all analog equipment without digital computer editing, which allowed to capture the warm tube sound!
