DOKKEN "Dysfunctional" /CD/

The sixth full-length studio album by legendary American Hard Rock/Heavy Metal band.
Exactly this is remastered re-edition of the Japanese only release "Dokken" (1994), including two more tracks.
It was the band's first release after reuniting in 1993. CD is aptly titled considering the feuding between the original band members. "Dysfunctional" is a decent, yet uninspiring album and doesn't exactly recall the glory days of the band. Dokken's 1995 album was more of a marketing move than an inspired musical collaboration. All of the members from the band's highwater mark in the '80s returned for "Dysfunctional", but they sound as if they haven't resolved their differences yet. 
Honestly though, there are a few decent cuts on this disc. "The Maze" is a decent song with a slight King's X vibe and "Too High to Fly" is an excellent song. "Lesser of Two Evils" isn't a bad song either and reminds of the Dokken of old.
Overall the sound here is an attempt at Alternative Rock in order to fit in with the times ('95), although the band also took some music cues from their 70s heros as well.
Although the album entered the chart respectfully at #47 at a time when 1980s Hard Rock and Heavy Metal had largely declined, sales quickly dropped off and were not enough to reach Gold RIAA certification. According to Don Dokken, the album sold around 400,000 copies. The song "Too High to Fly" was released as a single from the album and was a minor hit. As of 2009, it is the only song from the post-1980s portion of the bands' back catalogue that is still performed live, albeit only occasionally.
