Recorded live and filmed on 4 cameras at the Mean Fiddler, London, 29th November 2004, this DVD features a full 17 track set with old classics and tracks from the last album "Scars Of The Crucifix", played by classic lineup of: Glen Benton (bass), Steve Asheim (drums), Jack Owen (guitar) and Dave Suzuki (guitar). The songs are great, pretty diverse selection here - starting with the new stuff, while heavy on the classics near the end. The crowd is pretty rowdy when the classics are played and that is definitely a plus.
There's also a bonus 30-minute documentary "Behind the Scars", featuring behind-the-scenes footage of Deicide recording "Scars Of The Crucifix", candid interviews at home and backstage with the band, exclusive footage from the rehearsal room and the formation of Deicide, and explanation of Glen's forehead branding. It really takes you inside the band. The documentary features the Hoffman brothers before they left (they left Deicide five days before the concert was recorded) and there's a lot of footage of them, they mainly discuss the band's history. Glen Benton is hilarious, he talks about an e-mail he received from some kid, he plays with a lizard before kicking it (!). Steve Asheim is a crazy bastard; he shows off his gun collection and goes to the shooting range to take pot-shots at some Osama targets.
This is a very solid DVD release from notorious Death Metal band. The production is good, the band sounds top notch, and the extra features go very well with the rest of the release. This DVD is a nice in depth glimpse into the history of Deicide, and their status at that time!!

Recorded at the legendary Morrisound Studios, Florida, "Scars of The Crucifix" heralded the return to form of one of the Death Metal originators who after leaving their previous label were full of venom, hate and aggression. Cleanly produced by Neil Kernon (Cannibal Corpse, Queensryche), the band sounds appropriately brutal with synchronized dual-guitar shredding by Eric Hoffman and Brian Hoffman (who also manage about 17 solos between the two of them), metronomic drumming by Steve Asheim, and Glen Benton's bass guitar and deep growl (sometimes double-tracked with higher-pitched vocals).
This is their first album under new label Earache Records. This was also the last album to feature the Hoffman brothers on guitar, after their 17 year tenure with the band.
Album was awarded a Silver disc after 100,000 copies sold.

This is the first album recorded without brothers Hoffman who were dismissed from the band for skipping concerts. Guitarists Jack Owen (ex-Cannibal Corpse) and Ralph Santolla (ex-Iced Earth) took their places. The album has received very high critical acclaim - mainly for unique as for Death Metal sound. Highly technical guitar works and an unusually high for Death Metal melodism make this album unique in sound.
According to the magazine Metal Storm at this album for the first time was an attempt to develop Dream Death Metal means introducing elements of trance in Death Metal. However, it should be noted that the theme of the album has not changed significantly although it has become dreamier.
