It's rather remarkable how little the band's sound has changed over the course of an entire decade. Sure, their musicianship has gotten a little more polished, and they've perfected their formula a bit more, but it's essentially been the same vibe on every album throughout their career. "Bloodthirst" is not that much different from the other Cannibal Corpse recording with George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher (which in turn were not an incredible distance removed from the Chris Barnes era); there are the prerequisite detuned grinding guitars, hyperspeed blastbeat drumming, and vocals that sound like Fisher's larynx is being put through a garbage disposal, plus lyrics geared for maximum gore and shock value.
The appeal of "Bloodthirst", then, is likely to rest on your answer to the question "how much Cannibal Corpse do you really need"? If you enjoy the formula, haven't tired of it, and want to hear more material in the same vein, "Bloodthirst" is exactly what you're looking for. Otherwise, just get a couple of the Chris Barnes albums!
From the other side, amazing production, 11 consistently strong tracks, and endless replay value can makes it not only one of your favorite Cannibal Corpse albums, but also one of your favorite albums of all time!!

First re-release of the ninth full-length studio album by legendary American Brutal Death Metal band.
The last studio album to feature Jack Owen, one of the band's founding members, and up to 2012's "Torture", the last with an album cover depicting violence and gore. Also is Cannibal Corpse's fourth album to be named after one of the tracks on the album, after "Butchered At Birth", The Bleeding" and "Gallery Of Suicide".
For album number nine Cannibal Corpse continues with much the same style of gore-themed Death Metal that had made them a mainstay of the stateside scene for a decade-and-a-half. Bassist Alex Webster and guitarist Jack Owen write most of the songs here, respectively, and those songs are pretty much, what you've come to expect from Cannibal Corpse by this point - musically pulverizing and lyrically unsettling. Vocalist George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher is as unrelenting as usual, especially on such songs as "Frantic Disembowelment", where he switches from growling to screaming with seeming ease.
"Wretched Spawn" is overall a pretty brief album, clocking in just under 45 minutes, as few of the 13 songs break the four-minute mark. The title track is an exception, as are the lumbering "Festering in the Crypt" and the Thrashing album-closer, "They Deserve to Die", - these three longer songs being some of the more interesting ones here, given their unique characteristics. Most of the others are rather straight-ahead Death Metal blasts, and while they're on the mark stylistically, they may seem a bit workmanlike to longtime fans who have heard all this before.
Unlike more memorable albums such as "Tomb Of The Mutilated" (1992) and "Bleeding" (1994) where the band took its music to another level, "Wretched Spawn" is simply Cannibal Corpse continuing on with their trademark mayhem, seemingly confined by or content with their own musical boundaries, for better or worse. But you'll surely find much delight here!!

Cannibal Corpse have received a lot of attention and controversy over the years for their song titles alone. However, aside from all the over-the-top gross outs of the band's lyrics; the music is really worth checking out. Their relentless combination of neck-snapping Death Metal beats, sinister detuned guitar riffs, and Cookie Monster vocals is harrowing and fun at the same time, and the execution is better than that of most similar bands.
Most impressively, the album remains interesting from front to back, thanks to concise song lengths and a healthy variety of tempos, which alternate from rat-tat-tat machine gun-style onslaughts to chugging mid-tempo mosh sections (check out "Dormant Bodies Bursting" to hear it all in one song). Fans won't be disappointed with numbers like "Hatchet to the Head", "Compelled to Lacerate", and the exquisite "Sanded Faceless". This is great stuff!
Banned in Australia, New Zealand and Korea, this album is brutal, fast as hell, aggressive and intense!! This is easily one of Cannibal's best, and it's genuinely recommended as a starting point when looking to get into the Corpsegrinder era of the band!!!

Remastered re-release of the sixth full-length studio album by legendary American Brutal Death Metal band.
The first Cannibal Corpse album to feature former Nevermore guitarist Pat O'Brien, and the second album to include George Fisher on vocal.
Cannibal Corpse settled into their own gruesome groove early on in their career, spitting out a predictable set of carnage-obsessed trash-rockers on each of their albums. Consequently, their albums can be a little interchangeable, and "Gallery Of Suicide" is no different.
From the titles ("Disposal of the Body", "Blood Drenched Execution", "Dismembered and Molested", "Stabbed in the Throat", "Centuries of Torment", "Crushing the Despised", "I Will Kill You") to the incessant, buzzing guitars, it's Cannibal Corpse as the fans have come to expect them! It's a little fresher than its predecessor, "Vile", but it does have the problem of sounding a little monotonous in comparison to their entire catalog. That may not matter to the hardcore fans, who will inevitably be able to spot subtle differences between this and their previous albums, but it does suggest that the band will need to find a new modus operandi soon in order to keep things fresh.
In other way, "Gallery Of Suicide" is a refreshing blend of Technicality and Death Metal savagery. Although easy to underestimate, it is certain to reveal its uncompromising strength with a little time and patience. A solid addition to the band's discography, it may alienate many but it will surely attract and secure an entirely new breed of 'Corpse fanatics!

The band's final album to feature guitarist Pat O'Brien before producer Erik Rutan officially replaced him in 2021.
Just shy of their 30th birthday, the original progenitors of Gore-drenched Death Metal, are back with album number 14. In terms of production, "Red Before Black" steps away from the relative polish of 2014's Mark Lewis-produced "Skeletal Domain". Produced by Erik Rutan (Hate Eternal, Goatwhore), "Red Before Black" serves to once more raise the stakes, making it very clear who sets the standard when it comes to always compelling music that is equally brutal and complex, restoring the muddier sound of records including "Torture", "Evisceration Plague", and "Kill".
A terrific Cannibal Corpse release that stays true to their classic brutality while actually taking the band's sound forward. "Red Before Black" is Thrashy, savage, veers into Sludge and back into high velocity Metal in a highly refined, well-produced album. The definition of sound is so clear and the band is so tight here, you can really tell how hard they worked at making this effort stand out. The classic-sounding sick and twisted Extreme Death Metal with lyrics drenched in gore, hate, murder, and necrophilia. Cannibal Corpse, as always, prove the exception!

Cannibal Corpse emerged fully formed out of Florida's famous Death Metal swamp with their debut. The first Cannibal Corpse album is a landmark album in the history of Heavy Metal and even Rock 'n' Roll. All the trademarks are in place, from the B-horror movie album cover art to the ludicrously over the top lyrics.
Metal Blade definitely signed this Buffalo, NY band, and they signed the best band of all-time! Cannibal Corpse's single-minded devotion to their cause is admirable. Incredible riffs and outstanding vocals on all the songs. The bass is impressive and outstanding as well. The drumming is nice, fast, furious, and superb. Chris Barnes growls his vocals like Satan on a diet of razor blades and paint thinner. This album was something more than average Death Metal fit. More fast, brutal, powerful and full of force than other acts such as Death and Obituary. Filled with speed and anger, Cannibal Corpse took Death Metal to another level, with the fast drumming for the likes of Death, Autopsy and Sadus, the guttural riffage and brutal vocals. 
This album really rules! It's the best debut album ever and the best album released in 1990!!
