U.D.O. “Faceless World” /CD/

Debut DVD by the legendary German Heavy Metal band.
After many solo albums with his own band U.D.O., ex-Accept frontman Udo Dirkschneider finally released his first DVD for his numerous die-hard fans.
This DVD is jam-packed with U.D.O. goodies and the most interesting one is certainly the "Live in Russia" concert recorded in 2001. The overall picture is very average but acceptable (with sometimes some annoying black and white and distorted effects), and the sound is rather surprisingly good for a 2.0 audio mix. However, the footage is limited to only nine tracks - a 45 minutes set list, instead of a full concert. Nevertheless, the gig is awesome and it's so great to see U.D.O. perform their songs and the Accept ones so well and accurately.
The videoclips section is also fine to watch. The best ones being "They Want War", "Heart Of Gold" (videoclip and Hit Studio TV show appearance in 1989), "Independence Day" and "Still", an Aria song during which Udo appears and sings in Russian with the band! "Timebomb" (electronic press kit), which explains the story of the band up to that album.
There are also seven previously unreleased audio tracks on the DVD. Five of them are there in demo version but the sound is as good as a final studio track. "Recall The Sin" is rather quite different than the studio version included on "Holy". "X-T-C", an Accept track on "Eat The Heat" (the only Accept album which doesn't have Udo as the lead singer), is played very well. "The Key" is an excellent bonus track off the album "No Limits". This is more than 30 minutes of pure U.D.O. audio!
There are also other sections on the DVD like "Behind the scene", three separate footage totalling about 45 minutes of U.D.O. on tour in Russia, in the USA, and finally one where we can see Udo makes a parachute jump! There are also a short photo gallery, a biography of each member and links to Web sites. But the most impressive section is the discography, which includes cover art, lyrics, years, other information and especially excellent audio samples of all songs!!
It's definitely a must have for any die-hard U.D.O. fan. You get a very good retrospective of the U.D.O. history with this DVD. Finally, hail to ex-Accept Udo and Stefan for keeping on going after all these Metal years!!!

25th Anniversary Edition first re-release of the second full-length album by the legendary German Heavy Metal singer (ex-Accept) and his band.
Udo Dirkschneider will always be remembered as that wild little guy on a giant ball smashing into things on MTV for the video to Accept’s “Balls to the Wall”.  Only a few years after that iconic Heavy Metal video, Udo went out on his own and formed the band U.D.O.  In 1988, he released his second solo effort titled "Mean Machine". This was, in many ways, his first solo album, as his first release were songs written by Accept. On "Mean Machine" these were his songs and his former band's. Not that too much changed, as the voice was still as mean and snarling as ever. The guitars were distorted and the rhythm section played like a locomotive.  
"Mean Machine" is one of the best U.D.O. ever released albums, as well as the title track is one of the best tunes he ever released. “Dirty Boys” is an ode to that Rock and Roll lifestyle while “Streets on Fire” is an epic rocker. “Don’t Look Back” kicks off the show by smacking you between the eyes with a loud riff while “Break the Rules” summed up what Udo’s fans wanted out of life… to rock out and break the rules! 
The album still sounds great. So, crank it up and get your German Rock out as Udo has always done it right! This is a great trip back in time!!

It was recorded and mixed at Dierks Studios, Cologne from November 1990 to February 1991. Album was released in April 03, 1991.
The band's most brutal album, following a light approach on “Faceless World”, it's U.D.O.'s last release before Udo Dirkschneider took part in the Accept reunion which resulted in three albums.
The perfect mix of Speed Metal and old-school Heavy Metal. There is power and speed, but there is also enough of the classic sound of traditional Metal to keep this one close to the hearts of Judas Priest and Black Sabbath fans.
The band were aided by Deaffy on lyrics. Deaffy has also appeared as author of the English lyrics on the Accept albums, and has been revealed to be a pseudonym for Gaby Hoffmann (maiden name Hauke), manager for Accept and later married to guitarist Wolf Hoffmann.

The twelfth full-length studio album by legendary German Heavy Metal band.
The '80s officially ended on January 1, 1990, but for Metal and Hard Rock fans, the early ‘90s felt a lot like the ‘80s and "Dominator" is a 2008/2009 recording that finds former Accept frontman Udo Dirkschneider continuing to party like it's 1985. Like many other albums that Dirkschneider and his band U.D.O. have recorded, "Dominator" finds the veteran headbanger stubbornly clinging to '80s-style Heave Metal. But the fact that "Dominator" sounds so dated by late-2000s standards is not necessarily a bad thing - certainly not if one still has a passionate craving for pre-'90s Metal. "Heavy Metal Heaven", "Stillness of Time" and other fist-pumping tracks don't break any new ground for Dirkschneider, but they're solid and inspired nonetheless. After all these years, he still belts out old-school Metal with plenty of conviction, and he never sounds the least bit bored on this 44-minute CD. If Dirkschneider had grown bored with this type of material, it would show. But that isn't the case at all. His passion and intensity remain. So his refusal to change with the times is probably for the best!
Headbangers who still treasure the albums that Accept, Judas Priest, and AC/DC recorded in the ‘80s will find that "Dominator" is a worthwhile addition to U.D.O.'s catalogue!!

The thirteenth full-length studio album by legendary German Heavy Metal band.
If younger listeners aren't supposed to like the music that their parents listened to, that "fact" is lost on all the younger headbangers who have discovered U.D.O. in the 21st century. Today's college-age headbangers weren't even born in 1983, when Udo Dirkschneider was still Accept's lead singer and belted out "Balls To The Wall". But that hasn't prevented them from becoming U.D.O. converts, and a variety of younger and older listeners will find that Dirkschneider is in very good form on "Rev-Raptor".
This 2010-2011 recording, like other albums that Dirkschneider has come out with in the 21st century, finds him playing it close to the vest creatively. Instead of experimenting, Dirkschneider offers yet another dose of '80s-style Metal. Some tracks favour a strong Judas Priest/Iron Maiden aesthetic ("Motor-Borg", "Leatherhead", "Terrorvision", "Pain Man"), while others are closer to AC/DC, Accept, and Krokus ("Rock ‘n' Roll Soldiers"). But either way, Dirkschneider maintains a stubbornly pre-'90s perspective. And that's probably for the best because, even though "Rev-Raptor" takes few chances, it is a solid outing.
Dirkschneider and his sidesmen in U.D.O. sound like a well-oiled Heavy metal machine throughout the album; "Rev-Raptor" is predictable, but Dirkschneider never comes across as bored or uninspired. Dirkschneider no doubt reasons that if it isn't broke, don't fix it, and he still belts out this type of old-school Metal with plenty of conviction.
Although not essential, "Rev-Raptor" is a likeable effort, whether one discovered Dirkschneider back in the '80s or got hip to his work in the 21st century. And even though the material is consistently melodic, Dirkschneider is still keeping it “balls to the wall”!
It is the final album to feature Stefan Kaufmann and Igor Gianola.

Think Udo Dirkschneider and you think Accept. So it comes as quite a shock to realize that U.D.O. the band are in the process of celebrating an amazing 25 years together. To commemorate the fact, the aptly titled "Celebrator" combines some of the band's rarest tracks from throughout the years, with remixed previous bonus tracks, B sides, collaborations, and a trio of previously unreleased songs making for a whistle-stop tour of what U.D.O. the man and the band are all about. Famed for the classical styled pre-Power Metal, Dirkschneider and Accept forged back in the day, U.D.O. the band have seldom strayed too far from the bristling, Germanic Metal that has served the test of time so well. However, as this collection ably demonstrates, the odd side-step has occurred, although sometimes with varying degrees of success.
For die-hard fans, it will be the three unreleased tracks that cause the most excitement here, with "Tallyman", "The Silencer" and "Artificialized" from the "Rev-Raptor", "Dominator" and "Mastercutor" album sessions respectively, proving to be excellent songs, every bit as good as those that made the cut on these releases. However, look further afield, and some of the tracks that were initially available as bonus inclusions across a whole host of releases show up remarkably well. "Bleeding Heart" offers more groove than your average U.D.O. track, "Systematic Madness" is the type of stomper that Udo's mad bark is perfect for, while the duet with Doro, "Dancing With An Angel" is a remarkably impressive power ballad that many a Melodic Rock giant would cancel their next poodle perm for! Then there are the real surprises, such as the oddly unnerving piano version of the Accept classic "Balls to the Wall", a crackling, electric take of "X-T-C", a track that initially featured on the Udo-less Accept album "In Heat" and the excellent cover version of the Judas Priest classic "Metal Gods". Add to that some interesting collaborations with Lordi - "They Only Come Out At Night", Faktor2 - "Platchet Soldat" and Hammerfall - "Head Over Heels", as well as an extremely loose take on "Born To Be Wild" from 1983 with NWOBHM act Raven and this really is an eclectic, entertaining set!
Unless you are a U.D.O. completist, it would be tough to call "Celebrator" essential. However, as a snapshot of a legend of the Metal genre doing what he does best, this double disc set is still a cracking compilation!!

He has quite a distinctive voice, and always stays true to the one style of music that fits him like a pair of spandex trousers: Heavy Metal. Yes, with capitals, as he seems to be incapable of doing anything else. He has made 10 albums with Accept, and “Game Over” is his eighteenth studio recording with U.D.O. And if you even thought he would sound jaded, tired or even old, think again!
"Game Over!" – the statement behind has got many different meanings. But one thing becomes clear immediately: U.D.O. is not doing things by halves, and so they give everything they have. And the first U.D.O. album with drummer Francesco Jovino of Edge Of Forever. Previous drummer Lorenzo Milani left the band due to "personal reasons" after the release of "Thunderball". 
What do we still love the old man for? Definitely for his permanency, diligence, and devotion to the genre. Who else stood the test of time so well? Just a few. While the world of music was bombarded with tons of Grunge and his majesty Metal suffered rather hard times, unlike lots of others, Mr. Dirkschneider didn’t even think to lay down his arms following up on the once chosen road. Who can hold a candle to this veritable partisan of Teutonic Metal? Absolutely, no one! No comparisons would be relevant here!!
Focusing on the music itself, it is nothing else, but true German steel forged by Accept brand as far back as the late 70s. Certainly the sound production itself has undergone some noticeable change since then, but all in all we still have the same easily recognizable songwriting work fully packed with fast-paced tracks alternated from time to time with some more leisurely songs. Everything is adorned with irreproachable vocal endeavours from the maestro himself, who sounds as fresh and inimitable as in his less mature years when he and his bandmates were still riding high. The mix and sound palette are excellent too, and no instrument seems to dominate over each other.
Mr. Dirkscnider pursue to make a splash, filling the mould with a regular portion of Metal? Certainly, he didn’t. All he meant was to do his habitual job in order to breathe some energy and enthusiasm into our exhausted brains. And he did quite a good job as usual. To crown it all, we have another smelt of metal from the exhausted German steel-maker, just another rock in the citadel named U.D.O.!

The ninth full-length studio album by legendary German Heavy Metal band.
Upon the final demise of German Metal legends Accept in 1998, the man who was its voice, the unmistakably shrill Udo Dirkschneider, pretty much stepped into the breach with his self-named band U.D.O. and sought to carry on with a sound and style that, like a sabre-toothed cat of some sort, remains frozen in time. Not that what worked in 1984 will necessarily work in 2004 "Thunderball"'s carefully orchestrated nostalgia pieces may prove to be just what the doctor ordered.
Truly, later day Accept rarely sounded as authentically '80s as "Thunderball's title cut and subsequent offerings "Fistful of Anger", "Hell Bites Back" and "Tough Luck II" — all of them packed with precisely jagged guitar riffs, thundering gang-choruses, and of course Dirkschneider's vocal power-drill slicing everything to tatters. The co-songwriting presence on all of these tracks of original Accept drummer, now guitarist Stefan Kaufmann (the man responsible for many of their greatest hits of yore) is of course crucial to their remarkable time-erasing accomplishments, and it's fair to assume that the absolutely incredible "Pull the Trigger" is guaranteed to have everyone's Balls to the Wall.
All in all, and easy comparisons notwithstanding, "Thunderball" is a great U.D.O. album at all!

How U.D.O. has bridged the gap between eras is commendable, and this is showcased on this latest offering by way of some truly fantastic layers of emotion.
"Decadent" is one of U.D.O.’s most intriguing and diverse albums. The boys are back in their old routine of cracking heads, but this time there’s an element of more subtle sadism as they crank up the speakers and tear off the years! In fact, Udo Dirkschneider and company have never sounded so refreshed!!

The second re-release of the sixth full-length studio album by legendary German Heavy Metal band.
Recorded and mixed by Stefan Kaufmann at Roxx Studio in Pulheim, "No Limits" is the last album to feature guitarist Jürgen Graf. The album includes a new recording of "I'm a Rebel" from Accept's album "I'm a Rebel". "Azrael" was written by the German musician Albert Böhne in connection with a book by German horror writer Wolfgang Hohlbein.
While the 90s may have been a down-period for Udo Dirkschneider's original band, Accept, the latter half of the decade undoubtedly belonged to U.D.O. The diminutive German frontman's traditional Metal powerhouse released a string of brutal albums beginning in '97 with "Solid" and culminating in 1999's masterpiece known as "Holy". But, sandwiched in between these two, is arguably the best effort from U.D.O. - "No Limits".
U.D.O. simply does not relent in their straight-forward, catchy Metal attack from track 1 to track 13. The entire beginning of the record has all the foot-pounding Accept-style riffs we've now come to expect from guitarist Stefan Kaufmann, and the album in general flows incredibly well. There is nary a ballad to be found among such killer tracks as "Way of Life" and "Back With A Vengeance". The addition of the classic Accept tune "I'm a Rebel" is a nice touch, if a bit out of place with the overall style of the record, which has sort of a futuristic / sci-fi feel to it that is mirrored in the 2005 U.D.O. album "Mission No. X".
Udo's passion for unrelenting, ridiculously catchy classic Metal is apparent during every second of this release, and if you consider yourself a fan of the same, then pick this up before it goes back out of print!

What else can you expect from Udo Dirkschneider? "Holy" is a pure Heavy Metal album, a great album in fact. The album subtitle is "Metal Is Our Religion", and that's what most of the album is about, without going into somewhat childish lyrics that some bands use in songs about Metal.
Recorded and mixed by Stefan Kaufmann at Roxx Studio in Pulheim, it's the band's first album with guitarist Igor Gianola, who had played with Ronni Le Tekrø in Wild Willy's Gang. The band recruited drummer Lorenzo Milani after the release of the album; in the liner notes, "guess who" replaces the name of the drummer.
"Holy" is the kind of Metal album we don't see much any more.  It is just Heavy Metal, not Speed, not Power, not "insert sub-genre here"… As long as Udo keeps on going, we'll get some more of that good stuff!

The first re-release of the eighth full-length studio album by legendary German Heavy Metal band.
Check out the cover, it looks similar to the Accept album "Objection Overruled". This is a good sign that the album would sound a lot like the Accept days!
The album contains 11 tracks and lasts more than 50 minutes. The production is flawless, with great guitar sounds. The two former Accept members, singer Udo Dirkschneider and guitarist Stefan Kaufmann, wrote all the songs. The other members have some credits as well. The album is not as heavy as "Holy" but great as well. Many songs have some mellow parts; heavy-wise, the album can be compared to "Russian Roulette" from Accept. The leads are very good.
"Man And Machine", is a very good album that former Accept fans must listen to. This is great and refreshing to hear simple, basic heavy songs in these days. This is the true essence of traditional Heavy Metal music, and U.D.O. has reached its goal with this CD!

The first album with guitarist Andrey Smirnov. Second guitarist Kasperi Heikkinen joined the band after all recordings were completed. It is also the first album without Stefan Kaufmann as guitarist, as well as the first without guitarist Igor Gianola since the 1999 album "Holy".
Whenever you hear ''U.D.O. is releasing a new album'', you pretty much know what can you expect! And when you also know, that the album is called "Steelhammer", you can also expect that it's gonna kick ass!! Here it is and there's no chance of speaking about a letdown. What you need to remember is that this LP was actually a test o strength for Dirkschneider. It's a first release in many years not to feature the band's long time member and co-writer, Stefan Kaufmann, and also a great guitar player, Igor Gianola. First of those two doesn't need any presentation. The legendary ex-Accept drummer has been helping his old colleague with his career since the album "Solid" from 1997, and he co-wrote some of the band's best stuff. The question is: did Udo pass the test? Hell fuckin' yeah!! The ugliest dwarf in Heavy Metal and one of the best singers of all time is back again to smash our faces to the ground!!! And "Steelhammer" is his best work since "Mastercutor".
Referring to the album cover, being 61 years old, Udo Dirkschneider still rules the Metal world with the iron fist and seems unbreakable! So let us hope for more LP's like "Steelhammer"!!

The sixteenth full-length studio album by legendary German Heavy Metal band.
It is the first U.D.O. album to feature Udo Dirkschneider's son, Sven, as the new drummer, and the final album to feature bassist Fitty Wienhold, when he announced his departure in September 2018.
The fact is "Steelfactory" is the common for their entire career is that they have managed to keep the quality high throughout the entire careers. At the same time, then never really changed the formula either and U.D.O. has always been a logical choice for Accept fans, not just because of Dirkschneider, but because of the nature of the music. And "Steelfactory", of course, is not an exception.
"Steelfactory" is produced by Jacob Hansen and as such it’s typical sound for both Hansen and U.D.O., meaning that it has a big compressed sound that unfortunately does lack more vitality. On the other hand, it is professionally executed, and it does suit the nature of the music just fine. The thirteen-song album offers what basically any U.D.O. album offers, a rock-solid collection of upbeat and mid-tempo Heavy Metal songs. There are no surprises, but there is plenty of good ol’ Heavy Metal.
It must be a special feeling for the main man himself to have recorded an album with his son, who is just a few years older than the band. Former producer, drummer and song-writer Stefan Kaufmann might no longer be part of the band, but he does contribute with songwriting on a couple of songs.
If you’ve enjoyed the majority of the band’s discography, then you will for sure enjoy the "Steelfactory" as well. There is determination and quality to it, despite being set in its ways and often templated. But much like the last song on the album, “The Way”, points out, there is something genuine to the Udo Dirkschneider and how can you not respect that!
