The second full-length studio album by legendary Finnish Symphonic Metal/Rock band.
Tarja Turunen is the exceptionally gifted singer who rose to prominence as the voice and the face of Finnish outfit Nightwish. With her unique tones and striking stage presence having played a key role in making Nightwish a major, multi-platinum success. The gifted Finnish vocalist and multi-instrumentalist unveiled her wildly-anticipated solo debut CD/DVD set, interfusing the worlds of Metal, Hard Rock, Opera, and Atmospheric soundtrack.
This is the first album to consist mainly of new and original songs specifically written by or for Turunen. The album was released by Universal Music on 19 November 2007 in Finland, on 2 January 2008 in South America and on February 26 in North America and in the United Kingdom was also released a special version limited in 300 copies.
The album was recorded with the collaboration of various artists, including cellist Martin Tillman, guitarist Kiko Loureiro and composer James Dooley, with Turunen also playing additional keyboards. The album contains several music styles including Alternative Rock and Classical music, and it was recorded in different studios in Finland, Brazil, Ireland, USA, Spain, Switzerland, Germany and the Czech Republic.
"My Winter Storm" has sold Platinum in Finland and Double Platinum in Russia, and also reached Tarja's first Gold Disc in her entire career in the Czech Republic; the album spent two and a half months on the Official Finnish Albums Chart, reaching the highest position right during the first week, also spending four months on German Top 100, two months on Swiss Top 100 and also a full month on the Austrian Top 40, ending 2007 at 11th position on Billboard's Top 100 European albums with more than 500 000 copies sold.
To promote the album, Tarja played the Storm World Tour that took place from Berlin on November 25, 2007, to London on October 19, 2009.

Tarja is best known as the original member and the former lead vocalist of Finnish Operatic/Symphonic Power Metal band Nightwish, founded by herself, Tuomas Holopainen and Emppu Vuorinen in 1996. She was dismissed from the band after nine years, on October 22, 2005.
This is the first physical single for Tarja's fourth album "Colours In The Dark". It was released on July 12, 2013 as a limited edition CD (3000 copies), 7'' vinyl (1500 copies) and digital release.

As we all know, Nightwish and Tarja decided to break up. The Finish singer with the enormous voice decided to continue releasing solo albums - four up till now. Next to those long plays, she also had two live releases for now.
Knowing that her husband, Marcelo Cabuli, is from Argentina, it isn't a too big step to understand that this country became almost a second home for Tarja. And what is also more obvious than recording a show in Buenos Aires. The concert from this live release took place in 2011. It was March 27 when Tarja performed a show in the Luna Park in Buenos Aires
"Luna Park Ride" is a documentation of Tarja's live skills, and is definitely a collector's piece. Tarja performs her songs sovereignly live on stage. Whether they are solo songs like the powerful "I Walk Alone" and "I Feel Immortal" or even some Nightwish songs like "Stargazers" or "Wishmaster" - she always gets the crowd going with her flesh-crawling voice and this record might be also of interest for old Nightwish fans who still mourn her leaving of the popular Finnish Symphonic Metal band as she remained in a similar field musically, being more Rock and less Epic than the band that made her famous, though. 
If you've ever been to a Tarja live show and loved it, this is a great way to keep the memories alive. "Luna Park Ride" consists of two CDs, featuring a recording of her live show in Buenos Aires' Luna Park and recordings of various festivals she performed at in Europe. It was mixed by Tim Palmer, who has found the perfect balance between keeping the recordings organic and polished. These two CDs makes something special and exciting for fans of Tarja and female fronted bombastic Metal.

The album is a huge panorama of Operatic Metal, where some artistic experimentation is attempted, but repeatedly crushed under the album’s bombast. The dramatic scope of the strings and choirs, guitars and woodwinds, arrangement and high-gloss presentation is truly wondrous.
Tarja Turunen’s voice is a force of nature, dominant and dominating. The former lead singer for Nightwish fills her lungs and turns "Colours In The Dark" into the fury of the four winds. From the bombastic opener “Victim of Ritual” to the exquisite closer “Medusa”, in which she shares her hurricane-proof microphone with Blue October’s Justin Furstenfeld, "Colours In The Dark" is a colossal battle royal of operatic soprano, keyboard orchestra and Alex Schlopp’s ENGL amplifier madness. 
On "Colours In The Dark", the guitars are to die for, so to speak. The rhythm section is perfection and above all, Christian Kretschmar’s keyboards are magical. There are many instances where the orchestral emulation invokes the old question, is it The Hamburg Philharmonic or is it a bank of Access synthesizers?
The name of the album, as the cover image, came as a metaphor from the idea that life has a large range of colours and the dark absorbs all of them, containing every colour. Titles of the album's songs were revealed from times to times through Tarja's blog, like she did with "My Winter Storm" (2007). The album's name came out of the song "Until Silence". This is the third time the album's name came out of one of the songs. The artwork and some promotional pictures for this album were taken mainly in India during the What Lies Beneath World Tour in 2011. 
This is definitely one of the brightest albums in Rock in 2013 and proves to be a milestone for Heavy Symphonic Rock.

The sixth full-length studio album by legendary Finnish Gothic Orchestral/Symphonic soprano singer.
It’s also the second classical and Christmas album of Tarja.
While Tarja Turunen is well known for wedding the Operatic to Symphonic Metal, she forgoes the latter entirely on "From Spirits And Ghosts (Score For A Dark Christmas)". Right in time for the holiday season, Tarja delivers the soundtrack to a darker Christmas – an exploration of the other side of Christmas - the Christmas of the lonely people and the missing ones.
Recorded during the summer of 2017 in the Caribbean, mixed in Texas, and mastered in New York, the set includes 11 classic carols and other songs associated with the season as well as a new track recorded in the same manner. Turunen produced the collection with the American, Emmy Award-winning film score composer Jim Dooley (who also handled arrangements), and British producer Tim Palmer (Pearl Jam, David Bowie, U2, the Cure, etc).
Though Turunen's voice is characteristically crystalline, the Gothic orchestral treatments of the traditional holiday material, beginning with downright spooky album-opener "O Come, O Come, Emmanuel", are sometimes akin to the gloomy and monumental atmospheres created by Dead Can Dance. This feel saturates other tunes here such as the heartbreakingly lovely "Pie Jesu", the wildly dramatic "O Tannenbaum", and amazingly enough, the album's greatest surprise "Feliz Navidad". The melancholy in the relatively sparse charts on "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" creates an even greater sense of intimacy, while closer "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" is drenched in echo and electronics aside a celeste and chamber instruments, creating an eerie feel to send the album off. "Together," the lone new track, is a bittersweet seasonal song with Turunen fronting a full chorus, as triangles, swelling strings, and tympanies fill up the space behind and around her – it's as lovely as it is sad. The outlier is the hymn "Amazing Grace", stitched together with pulsing synths, low-end brass, and reverb before the entire orchestra floods the foreground.
Somehow, Turunen's aesthetic principles shoehorns the tune to fit seamlessly into the mix. Given the absence of Metal on "Spirits And Ghosts", it was interesting to see how it sits with her legions of fans. At all, the album has been warmly acclaimed by critics and fans alike, who have noted the dark twist Turunen achieved on the album and the combination of different languages.
With the album release, comes also Tarja Turunen's first graphic novel, "From Spirits And Ghosts (Novel For A Dark Christmas)". The 40-page novel is about the world of dark Christmas, scripted by Peter Rogers with accompanying art by Conor Boyle. The "novel for a dark Christmas" revolves around Tarja's two characters, the dark and light one, bringing together lonely souls during the festive season.

“The Brightest Void” is the second part of the sixth full-length album, “The Shadow Self”, although, chronologically, it was released before “The Shadow Self”. It has to be considered as prequel because, musically speaking, it carries on from where the second full-length left off, keeping the same vibe of diverse sounds and featuring more guest vocalists, such as Michael Monroe (ex-Hanoi Rocks) and Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers) playing drums.
“An Empty Dream” is the highlight of the album, with an ethereal arrangement contrasted by Tarja’s warm, emotional vocals. The album also includes a new mix of Tarja’s duet with Within Temptation, “Paradise (What About Us)”, but the absolute surprise of this release is definitely the cover of James Bond’s “Goldfinger”, originally sung by legendary singer Shirley Bassey. The arrangement is absolutely fantastic, and Tarja’s voice shifts from lower notes to the heavier moments of the song with great confidence.
Overall, Tarja demonstrated that she is not bound by genre labels and that she can elegantly put her own spin on anything she sings. This release is a challenging work that never gets boring or repetitive; a treat for fans and a statement for anyone who ever doubted Tarja’s skills.

The prequel of "The Shadow Self", named "The Brightest Void", was released on 3 June the same year with nine tracks. It is an album by itself, but also ties together with "The Shadow Self". "The Brightest Void" is the second part of the "The Shadow Self", although, chronologically, it was released before "The Shadow Self". It has to be considered as prequel because, musically speaking, it carries on from where the second full-length left off, keeping the same vibe of diverse sounds.
"The Shadow Self" was once again mixed by Tim Palmer at '62 Studios, in Austin, Texas. A simple and plodding guitar progression and classical instruments are layered to create a massive and lush orchestral sound. On top of that is Tarja’s voice, which has trained soprano and doves flying over a mountain crest after being released during a rich couple’s wedding written all over it… Once again, the great album from multi-talented Tarja Soile Susanna Turunen-Cabuli!

As the saying goes, not all that glitters is gold. But then again, not all that is gold necessarily glitters. It was this idea that struck Tarja Turunen as she began work on her eighth solo album, “In The Raw”. “Gold, we think, is something polished and perfect, sophisticated, a luxury – but in its natural state it’s a raw element”, explains Tarja. Just like the music on her upcoming album: a combination of sophisticated and refined orchestration, choir and her classically trained voice with a raw, dark heavy musical core. Simply put, “In The Raw” is a gold-plated work of wonder.
Two years on from her last album, 2017’s “From Spirits And Ghosts”, “In The Raw” finds Tarja and her beautiful voice sounding, as ever, truly stunning. Working with many of the same musicians and production team as before, the intention was to bring out the idea of rawness to match the feelings Tarja was having from the very beginning of the process. The album finds Tarja going to raw, personal places in her lyrics. Opening herself up more than ever before, she says she was left feeling naked by her honesty, but also pleased at where she had gone with her words.
Tarja Turunen joined forces with other Heavy Metal vocalists such as Soilwork vocalist Björn "Speed" Strid, Tommy Karevik of Kamelot, and Lacuna Coil's Cristina Scabbia, thus including in the album vocal collaborations with them. Strid is featured in "Dead Promises", Scabbia's vocals can be heard in "Goodbye Stranger", and Karevik is featured in "Silent Masquerade".
"In The Raw" unites the energy of Rock and Metal with Tarja's Classically trained voice and love for refined Orchestral melodies, truly in the best way possible. The album reminds how good Symphonic Metal can be: vocal performances executed to perfection, versatile songwriting, thoughtful arrangements, deeply talented musicians, excellent production values.
"In The Raw" has been widely acclaimed by both Heavy Metal fans and music critics in general, and giving fans to add another golden gem by the Queen of Heavy Rock to their collection.

"Colours In The Dark" is riskier than Tarja’s previous three solo albums. The album is a huge panorama of Operatic Metal, where some artistic experimentation is attempted, but repeatedly crushed under the album’s bombast. The dramatic scope of the strings and choirs, guitars and woodwinds, arrangement and high-gloss presentation is truly wondrous.
Tarja Turunen’s voice is a force of nature, dominant and dominating. The former lead singer for Nightwish fills her lungs and turns "Colours In The Dark" into the fury of the four winds. From the bombastic opener “Victim of Ritual” to the exquisite closer “Medusa”, in which she shares her hurricane-proof microphone with Blue October’s Justin Furstenfeld, "Colours In The Dark" is a colossal battle royal of operatic soprano, keyboard orchestra and Alex Schlopp’s ENGL amplifier madness. 
On "Colours In The Dark", the guitars are to die for, so to speak. The rhythm section is perfection and above all, Christian Kretschmar’s keyboards are magical. There are many instances where the orchestral emulation invokes the old question, is it The Hamburg Philharmonic or is it a bank of Access synthesizers?
The name of the album, as the cover image, came as a metaphor from the idea that life has a large range of colours and the dark absorbs all of them, containing every colour. Titles of the album's songs were revealed from times to times through Tarja's blog, like she did with "My Winter Storm" (2007). The album's name came out of the song "Until Silence". This is the third time the album's name came out of one of the songs. The artwork and some promotional pictures for this album were taken mainly in India during the What Lies Beneath World Tour in 2011. 
This is definitely one of the brightest albums in Rock in 2013 and proves to be a milestone for Heavy Symphonic Rock.

As we all know, Nightwish and Tarja decided to break up. The Finish singer with the enormous voice decided to continue releasing solo albums - four up till now. Next to those long plays, she also had two live releases for now.
Knowing that her husband, Marcelo Cabuli, is from Argentina, it isn't a too big step to understand that this country became almost a second home for Tarja. And what is also more obvious than recording a show in Buenos Aires. The concert from this live release took place in 2011. It was March 27 when Tarja performed a show in the Luna Park in Buenos Aires
"Luna Park Ride" is a documentation of Tarja's live skills, and is definitely a collector's piece. Tarja performs her songs sovereignly live on stage. Whether they are solo songs like the powerful "I Walk Alone" and "I Feel Immortal" or even some Nightwish songs like "Stargazers" or "Wishmaster" - she always gets the crowd going with her flesh-crawling voice and this record might be also of interest for old Nightwish fans who still mourn her leaving of the popular Finnish Symphonic Metal band as she remained in a similar field musically, being more Rock and less Epic than the band that made her famous, though. 
If you've ever been to a Tarja live show and loved it, this is a great way to keep the memories alive. "Luna Park Ride" was mixed by Tim Palmer, who has found the perfect balance between keeping the recordings organic and polished. This album makes something special and exciting for fans of Tarja and female fronted bombastic Metal.

It has to be considered as prequel because, musically speaking, it carries on from where the second full-length left off, keeping the same vibe of diverse sounds and featuring more guest vocalists, such as Michael Monroe (ex-Hanoi Rocks) and Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers) playing drums.
“An Empty Dream” is the highlight of the album, with an ethereal arrangement contrasted by Tarja’s warm, emotional vocals. The album also includes a new mix of Tarja’s duet with Within Temptation, “Paradise (What About Us)”, but the absolute surprise of this release is definitely the cover of James Bond’s “Goldfinger”, originally sung by legendary singer Shirley Bassey. The arrangement is absolutely fantastic, and Tarja’s voice shifts from lower notes to the heavier moments of the song with great confidence.
Overall, Tarja demonstrated that she is not bound by genre labels and that she can elegantly put her own spin on anything she sings. This release is a challenging work that never gets boring or repetitive; a treat for fans and a statement for anyone who ever doubted Tarja’s skills.
