The fifth full-length album by legendary American Nu Metal band.
The final studio album released by the band to include two longtime members: bassist and founding member Paul Gray, who was found dead in an Iowa hotel on May 24, 2010, almost two years after the release of "All Hope Is Gone", and drummer Joey Jordison, who departed from the band in December 2013.
"All Hope Is Gone" considered as the band's most eclectic-sounding album, incorporating elements from their previous three. Songs such as the opening track "Gematria (The Killing Name)" and the title track espouse the band's more brutal, Death Metal-influenced edge, reminiscent of songs such as "(sic)" from their debut self-titled album; slow burning, "trippy" elements such as "Gehenna", reminiscent of "Skin Ticket" from their second album "Iowa"; and more tragic, sentimental tracks such as "Dead Memories" and "Snuff".
Lyrically, "All Hope Is Gone" centers on themes such as anger, disaffection, obsession, and the music industry. The album name also features a more prominent focus on politics than their previous albums.
"All Hope Is Gone" reached the top position on nine record charts worldwide, including the Billboard 200 - the first Slipknot album to do so. It was certified Platinum by the RIAA on August 10, 2010 for shipments in excess of 1,000,000 albums in the United States.

The fourth full-length studio album by legendary American Nu Metal band.
The band’s only album produced by Rick Rubin, and also the only one not to feature harsh profanity.
Following the band’s tour to promote its second album in 2002, speculation regarding the future began. Some band members had already been involved in side projects including Murderdolls, To My Surprise, and the reformation of Stone Sour. However, in 2003, Slipknot moved into The Mansion to work on the album.
Initially, the band was unproductive; lead vocalist Corey Taylor was drinking heavily. Nevertheless, they wrote more than enough material for a new album - the band’s first to incorporate more traditional, melodic song structures, guitar solos and acoustic guitars.
"Vol. 3" shares its lyrical themes of anger, disaffection, and psychosis with most of Slipknot's Nu-Metal peers, what makes it tick is the dedication to making it a Slipknot album, and not just another flashy Alt-Metal billboard. The seething anger and preoccupation with pain is valid because it's componential to the band's uniquely branded havoc.
Rubin is integral to the album's power, his cataclysmic vocal filters and arrays of unidentifiable squiggle and squelch unite "Vol. 3"'s various portions in wildly different ways. It's a satisfying, carefully crafted representation of their career to date.
The album peaked within the top ten in album sales across eleven countries, and went Platinum in the United States. The band also received the Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance for the song "Before I Forget". At the end of 2009, "Before I Forget" was listed as AOL’s "Top Metal Song of the Decade". Roadrunner Records have listed the music video for "Duality" as the best video in Roadrunner history.

The band's final album released through Roadrunner, with whom the band signed with in 1998. The album dedicated to co-founder and former drummer Joey Jordison, who died in his sleep in July 2021. At a length of 57 minutes and 31 seconds, "The End, So Far" is the band's shortest studio album to date.
"The End, So Far" debuted within the top ten in over ten countries worldwide, including peaks at the summit in several countries including Australia, Germany, Greece, Mexico, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. In the United States, the album debuted at number 2 on the Billboard 200, the first album of theirs not to debut at the summit since 2004's "Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)" while selling 59000 copies in the first week with 50500 coming from pure sales. In the UK, the album outsold the reissue of George Michael's "Older" by 340 units after trailing to it in the midweek chart update, claiming the band its third number-one on the UK Albums Chart following 2001's "Iowa" and 2019's predecessor "We Are Not Your Kind". It sold a total of 14068 copies, 12083 of which came from pure sales while also collecting an additional 2005 album-equivalent units from streaming.
Due to miscommunication, the first press of vinyl and cassette versions are mistakenly titled "The End For Now..." instead of The End, So Far. Some copies received a sticker with the correct album name. Furthermore, track 2 is titled "Dying Song" instead of "The Dying Song (Time To Sing)" and track 5 is titled "Hivemind" instead of "Hive Mind".

"We Are Not Your Kind" opened at the top ten on more than 20 album charts, debuting atop about 10 (including Australian, Belgian, Canadian, Finnish, Irish, Portuguese, Spanish, British, and American charts). The album debuted atop the US Billboard 200 with 118 000 album-equivalent units, including 102 000 pure album sales, becoming Slipknot's third consecutive album to reach the country's summit after "All Hope Is Gone" and ".5: The Gray Chapter". The album debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart, preventing Ed Sheeran's No.6 "Collaborations Project" from getting a fifth consecutive week at the top spot by selling 31 800 units in its first week, including 25 500 physical copies. This would give the band its first UK number one since 2001's "Iowa".
