First official re-release of the third compilation album by legendary British Progressive Rock band.
Anyone who knew anything about Pink Floyd knew that a dance band they were not, so this compilation, courtesy of Columbia Records, was intended ironically. Originally released in 1981, "A Collection Of Great Dance Songs" contains alternative mixes and versions of the band’s classics, now remastered from the original analogue tapes with album artwork faithfully reproduced.
The album contains alternative mixes of "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" (which comprises parts 1, 2, 4 and 7) edited down for time reasons, and "Another Brick in the Wall (Part 2)" (which combines the intro from the single mix with the album version which fades out during the "if you don't eat your meat" ending). Also, the track "Money" was re-recorded as Capitol Records refused to license the track to Columbia/CBS Records. David Gilmour re-recorded the track himself, guitars, keyboards, bass guitar and vocals and co-producing the song with James Guthrie. Dick Parry reprised his saxophone role on the track. There are some differences between the re-recorded version and the original; mainly in the saxophone and guitar solos and the overall use of reverb and Gilmour repeating "away" at the end instead of the high pitch scat singing on the original. The drumming is noticeably different from Nick Mason's, especially during the guitar solo, with very little of the tom-tom fills heard on the original.
The album was certified Gold by the RIAA on 29 January 1982, Platinum on 6 July 1989, and Double Platinum in August 2001. The album reached number 37 on the United Kingdom charts and number 31 in the United States.

Remastered re-release of the second full-length studio album by legendary British Psychedelic/Space Rock band.
A transitional album on which the band moved from Syd Barrett's relatively concise and vivid songs to spacy, ethereal material with lengthy instrumental passages. The album was recorded before and after Syd Barrett's departure from the band. With Barrett's behaviour becoming increasingly unpredictable, David Gilmour was recruited to compliment Barrett, and eventually to replace him. As a result, "A Saucerful Of Secrets" became the only non-compilation Pink Floyd album on which all five band members appeared, the first for Gilmour (with him appearing on five songs), and the last for Barrett (with him on three). "Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun" was the only song all five members appeared on together.
"Remember a Day" and "See Saw" are highlights; on "Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun", "Let There Be More Light", and the lengthy instrumental title track, the band begin to map out the dark and repetitive pulses that would characterize their next few records.
Upon release, "A Saucerful Of Secrets" reached number nine in the UK charts, but failed to chart at all in the US until 2019, when it peaked at 158. However, when it was reissued as "A Nice Pair" with the original version of "The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn", after the success of "The Dark Side Of The Moon", the album did chart at number 36 on the Billboard 200.

Remastered re-release of the fifth full-length studio album by legendary British Psychedelic/Progressive Rock band.
Appearing after the sprawling, unfocused double-album set "Ummagumma" (1969), "Atom Heart Mother" may boast more focus, even a concept, yet that doesn't mean it's more accessible. If anything, this is the most impenetrable album Pink Floyd released while on Harvest, which also makes it one of the most interesting of the era.
Still, it may be an acquired taste even for fans, especially since it kicks off with a side-long, 23-minute extended orchestral piece that may not seem to head anywhere, but is often intriguing, more in what it suggests than what it achieves. Then, on the second side, Roger Waters, David Gilmour and Rick Wright have a song apiece, winding up with the group composition "Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast" wrapping it up. Of these, Waters begins developing the voice that made him the band's lead songwriter during their classic era with "If," while Wright has an appealingly mannered, very English psychedelic fantasia on "Summer '68", and Gilmour's "Fat Old Sun" meanders quietly before ending with a guitar workout. "Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast", the 12-minute opus that ends the album, does the same thing, floating for several minutes before ending on a drawn-out jam that finally gets the piece moving.
So, there are interesting moments scattered throughout the record, and the work that initially seems so impenetrable winds up being "Atom Heart Mother"'s strongest moment. That it lasts an entire side illustrates that Pink Floyd was getting better with the larger picture instead of the details, since the second side just winds up falling off the tracks, no matter how many good moments there are. This lack of focus means "Atom Heart Mother" will largely be for cultists, but its unevenness means there's also a lot to cherish here.
The "Atom Heart Mother" was recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London. It was the band's first album to reach number 1 in the UK, while it reached number 55 in the US, eventually going Gold there. It was released in the quadraphonic format in the UK, Germany and Australia. The album is ranked number 990 in All-Time Top 1000 Albums.

Remastered re-release of the seventh full-length studio album by legendary British Progressive Rock band.
The album is based on band's soundtrack for the French film "La Vallée", by Barbet Schroeder. It was recorded in two sessions in France, while the the band were in the midst of touring, and produced by the band members.
The album is noticeably shorter than some of their previous material, and makes heavy utilization of the acoustic guitar. Here, the instrumentals float pleasantly, filled with interesting textures, yet they never seem to have much of a purpose. Often, they seem quite tied to their time, either in their spaciness or in the pastoral folkiness, two qualities that are better brought out on the full-fledged songs interspersed throughout the record. Typified by "Burning Bridges" and "Wot's...uh the Deal", these songs explore some of the same musical ground as those on "Atom Heart Mother" and "Meddle", yet they are more concise and have a stronger structure. But the real noteworthy numbers are the surprisingly heavy Blues-Rocker "The Gold It's in The...", which, as good as it is, is trumped by the stately, ominous "Childhood's End" and the jaunty Pop tune "Free Four", two songs whose obsessions with life, death, and the past clearly point toward "Dark Side Of The Moon". As startlingly advanced as these last two songs are, they're not enough to push the rest of "Obscured By Clouds" past seeming just like a soundtrack, yet these tunes, blended with the sensibility of "Meddle", suggest what Pink Floyd was about to develop into.
Lyrically, the songs center around love, a common theme in the film it was inspired by. The album's only single, "Free Four", was released in the US only.
"Obscured By Clouds" is often seen as a stopgap for the band, who had started work on their next album, "The Dark Side Of The Moon" (1973). The resulting work is often overlooked in the band canon, primarily because of the success of their later material. Nevertheless, the album reached number one in France, number six in the UK and number 46 in the US (where it was certified Gold by the RIAA in 1997), and retrospective opinions from both fans and critics have been positive, with some critics noting the similarities to their later material.

EMI decided to release a budget priced LP on their Starline label, combining early Singles, B-sides, album tracks and one unreleased number, "Biding My Time". The compilation contains material from the first three albums, "The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn", "A Saucerful Of Secrets" and "More".
"Relics" most noted for its inclusion of the band's first two Syd Barrett-era hit singles, "Arnold Layne" and "See Emily Play" (this re-release reverts to the original mono mixes of these two tracks). Also were included the B-sides of the three follow-up Singles, with the tracks "Paintbox", "Julia Dream" and "Careful with That Axe, Eugene" appearing in true stereo. The album also includes a previously unreleased studio recording of a Roger Waters composition, "Biding My Time", which had otherwise only been heard by live audiences as part of the Man And The Journey concert sequence.
Despite "Relics" is a compilation and not a regular studio album, it's a pretty good place to start with the band's early catalog. From "The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn", you get the goofy childishness of "Bike" and the mesmerizing "Interstellar Overdrive" - one of the band's trademark instrumental freak-outs; "The Nile Song," taken from the "More" soundtrack, is one of the heaviest songs the band recorded. A little bit of everything that made early Pink Floyd can be found here. Without a doubt, the disc is an essential part of the band's discography, not to be disregarded due to its overlap with studio album material!!

Primarily developed during live performances, the band premiered an early version of the record several months before recording began. New material was recorded in two sessions in 1972 and 1973 at Abbey Road Studios in London. The band used advanced recording techniques at the time, including multitrack recording, tape loops, and analogue synthesizers. Snippets from interviews with the band's road crew, as well as philosophical quotations, were also used. Engineer Alan Parsons was responsible for many sonic aspects and the recruitment of singer Clare Torry, who appears on "The Great Gig in the Sky".
The record builds on ideas explored in Pink Floyd's earlier recordings and performances, while omitting the extended instrumentals that characterised their earlier work. A concept album, its themes explore conflict, greed, time, death, and mental illness, the latter partly inspired by the deteriorating health of founding member Syd Barrett, who departed the band in 1968.
The iconic sleeve, which depicts a prism spectrum, was designed by Storm Thorgerson, following keyboardist Richard Wright's request for a "simple and bold" design, representing the band's lighting and the record's themes.
"The Dark Side Of The Moon" helped to propel Pink Floyd to international fame, bringing wealth and recognition to all four of its members. It has been hailed by critics as one of the greatest albums of all time. 
In the UK, it is the seventh-best-selling album of all time and the highest selling album never to reach number one.
In the US the LP was released before the introduction of Platinum awards in 1976. It therefore held only a Gold disc until 16 February 1990, when it was certified 11× Platinum. On 4 June 1998 the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) certified the album 15× Platinum, denoting sales of 15,000,000 in the United States – making it their biggest-selling work there ("The Wall" is 23× Platinum, but as a double album this signifies sales of 11,500,000).
The record reached number one on the US Billboard Top LPs & Tape chart (now known as the Billboard 200). Although it held the number one spot in the US for only a week, it remained in the Billboard album chart for 741 weeks from 1973 to 1988. The album re-appeared on the Billboard charts with the introduction of the Top Pop Catalog Albums chart in May 1991, and has been a perennial feature since then. On the week of 5 May 2006, "The Dark Side Of The Moon" achieved a combined total of 1,716 weeks on the Billboard 200 and Pop Catalog charts. Upon a change in methodology in 2009 allowing catalogue titles to be included in the Billboard 200, "The Dark Side Of The Moon" returned to the chart at number 189 on 12 December of that year for its 742nd charting week. It has continued to sporadically appear on the Billboard 200 since then, with the total at 943 weeks on the chart as of June 2019.
With estimated sales of over 45,000,000 copies, "The Dark Side Of The Moon" became one of the best-selling albums worldwide of all time and is in the top 25 of a list of best-selling albums in the United States.
"The Dark Side Of The Moon" has frequently appeared on rankings of the greatest albums of all-time. In 1987, Rolling Stone listed the record 35th on its "Top 100 Albums of the Last 20 Years", and sixteen years later, in 2003, the album polled in 43rd position on the magazine's list of the "500 Greatest Albums of All Time", and was voted 43rd again on the magazine's 2012 list. It came 29th in The Observer's 2006 list of "The 50 Albums That Changed Music", and 37th in The Guardian's 1997 list of the "100 Best Albums Ever", as voted for by a panel of artists and music critics. In 2013, "The Dark Side Of The Moon" was selected for preservation in the United States National Recording Registry by the Library of Congress for being deemed "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".

The last Pink Floyd album to feature founding member Roger Waters, who departed in 1985. It is also the only Pink Floyd album not to feature founding member and keyboardist Richard Wright, whom Waters fired during "The Wall" sessions. The recording was plagued by conflict; guitarist David Gilmour felt many of the tracks were not worthy of inclusion, but Waters accused him of failing to contribute material himself. Drummer Nick Mason's contributions were mostly limited to sound effects.
Waters planned the album as a soundtrack for the 1982 film adaptation of "The Wall". The album contains unused material from the previous Pink Floyd record, "The Wall" (1979), alongside new material recorded throughout 1982. "The Final Cut" is an anti-war concept album that explores what Waters regards as the betrayal of fallen British servicemen—such as his father—who during the Second World War sacrificed their lives in the spirit of a post-war dream. Waters provided lead vocals for all but one track, and he is credited for all songwriting. The album was accompanied by a short film, also titled "The Final Cut", released in the same year.
"The Final Cut" was a commercial success, reaching number one in the UK, surpassing "The Dark Side Of The Moon" and "The Wall". It was less successful in US, peaking at number six on the Billboard album charts.
With over 1,000,000 units shipped in the United States, the Recording Industry Association of America certified "The Final Cut" Platinum in May 1983. It was given double Platinum certification in 1997. "The Final Cut" has sold over 2 million copies, however, it was the lowest-selling Pink Floyd studio album in the United States and worldwide since "Meddle".

The album, named after the title of chapter seven of Kenneth Grahame's "The Wind in the Willows" (Syd Barrett's favorite children's book), and featuring a kaleidoscopic cover photo of the band taken by Vic Singh, is the only one album made under founding member Syd Barrett's leadership. 
Since its release, the album has been hailed a pivotal Psychedelic Rock album, with the embryonic elements of what was to become Progressive rock. Lyrical imagery of "The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn" is indeed full of colorful, childlike, distinctly British whimsy, albeit filtered through the perceptive lens of LSD. Barrett's catchy, melodic Acid Pop songs are balanced with longer, more Experimental pieces showcasing the band's instrumental freak-outs, often using themes of space travel as metaphors for hallucinogenic experiences. But even though Barrett's lyrics and melodies are mostly playful and humorous, the band's music doesn't always bear out those sentiments - in addition to Rick Wright's eerie organ work, dissonance, chromaticism, weird noises, and vocal sound effects are all employed at various instances, giving the impression of chaos and confusion lurking beneath the bright surface. "The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn" successfully captures both sides of Psychedelic experimentation - the pleasures of expanding one's mind and perception, and an underlying threat of mental disorder and even lunacy; this duality makes "The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn" all the more compelling in light of Barrett's subsequent breakdown, and ranks it as one of the best Psychedelic albums of all time! The album is hailed not only as a Psychedelic masterpiece but LSD is named as a direct influence...
The album was ranked 40th in Mojo Magazine's "The 50 Most Out There Albums of All Time" list. In 2000, Q Magazine placed "The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn" at the Gates of Dawn at number 55 in its list of the 100 greatest British albums ever. In July 2006, Billboard described "The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn" as "one of the best Psychedelic Rock albums ever". In 2012, "The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn" was voted 347th on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the "500 Greatest Albums of All Time".

The second Pink Floyd album recorded without founding member Roger Waters, "The Division Bell" was written mostly by guitarist and singer David Gilmour and keyboardist Richard Wright. It features Wright's first lead vocal on a Pink Floyd album since "The Dark Side Of The Moon" (1973). Gilmour's fiancée, novelist Polly Samson, co-wrote many of the lyrics, which deal with themes of communication. The production team included longtime Pink Floyd collaborators such as producer Bob Ezrin, engineer Andy Jackson, saxophonist Dick Parry, and bassist Guy Pratt. It was the last Pink Floyd album recorded with Wright, who died in 2008.
The album won the Grammy for Best Rock Instrumental Performance on "Marooned". "The Division Bell" was nominated for the 1995 Brit Award for Best Album by a British Artist, but lost to Blur's "Parklife".
"The Division Bell" reached number one in more than 10 countries, including the UK and the US. It was certified double Platinum in the US the year it was released, and triple Platinum in 1999.

The album was recorded at the band's Britannia Row Studios in London throughout 1976, and was produced by the band. It continues the longform compositions that made up their previous works, including "Wish You Were Here" (1975). 
Lyrically, "Animals" is a concept album that provides a scathing critique of the social-political conditions of late 1970s Britain, and presents a marked change in musical style from their earlier work. Its production was punctuated by early signs of tension within the band, which would later culminate in keyboardist Richard Wright leaving the band. 
Of all of the classic-era Pink Floyd albums, "Animals" is the strangest and darkest, a record that's hard to initially embrace yet winds up yielding as many rewards as its equally nihilistic successor, "The Wall". Arriving after the warm-spirited (albeit melancholy) "Wish You Were Here", the shift in tone comes as a bit of a surprise, and there are even less proper songs here than on either "Wish You Were Here" or "Dark Side Of The Moon". "Animals" is all extended pieces, yet it never drifts - it slowly, ominously works its way toward its destination.
For an album that so clearly is Waters', David Gilmour's guitar dominates thoroughly, with Richard Wright's keyboards rarely rising above a mood-setting background (such as on the intro to "Sheep"). This gives the music, on occasion, immediacy and actually heightens the dark mood by giving it muscle. It also makes "Animals" as accessible as it possibly could be, since it surges with bold Blues Rock guitar lines and hypnotic Space Rock textures. Through it all, though, the utter blackness of Waters' spirit holds true, and since there are no vocal hooks or melodies, everything rests on the mood, the near-nihilistic lyrics, and Gilmour's guitar. These are the kinds of things that satisfy cultists, and it will reward their attention - there's just no way in for casual listeners.
The album received positive reviews from critics and was commercially successful, reaching number two in the UK, and three in the US. number 2 and 3 in the UK and US, respectively. Thanks to the album and the band's back catalogue, noted The Guinness Book of British Hit Albums, "Pink Floyd bested ABBA for most weeks on chart (in 1977), 108 to 106". Since its release, "Animals" has sold over 5 million copies worldwide.

Still, it may be an acquired taste even for fans, especially since it kicks off with a side-long, 23-minute extended orchestral piece that may not seem to head anywhere, but is often intriguing, more in what it suggests than what it achieves. Then, on the second side, Roger Waters, David Gilmour and Rick Wright have a song apiece, winding up with the group composition "Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast" wrapping it up. Of these, Waters begins developing the voice that made him the band's lead songwriter during their classic era with "If," while Wright has an appealingly mannered, very English psychedelic fantasia on "Summer '68", and Gilmour's "Fat Old Sun" meanders quietly before ending with a guitar workout. "Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast", the 12-minute opus that ends the album, does the same thing, floating for several minutes before ending on a drawn-out jam that finally gets the piece moving.
So, there are interesting moments scattered throughout the record, and the work that initially seems so impenetrable winds up being "Atom Heart Mother"'s strongest moment. That it lasts an entire side illustrates that Pink Floyd was getting better with the larger picture instead of the details, since the second side just winds up falling off the tracks, no matter how many good moments there are. This lack of focus means "Atom Heart Mother" will largely be for cultists, but its unevenness means there's also a lot to cherish here.
The "Atom Heart Mother" was recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London. It was the band's first album to reach number 1 in the UK, while it reached number 55 in the US, eventually going Gold there. It was released in the quadraphonic format in the UK, Germany and Australia. The album is ranked number 990 in All-Time Top 1000 Albums.

The first Pink Floyd album recorded without founding member Roger Waters, who departed in 1985.  The album saw the return of keyboardist and founding member Richard Wright, who had resigned from the band under pressure from Waters during the recording of "The Wall" (1979). It was recorded primarily on guitarist David Gilmour's converted houseboat, Astoria. The production was marred by legal fights over the rights to the Pink Floyd name, which were not resolved until several months after release.
Unlike most earlier Pink Floyd records, "A Momentary Lapse Of Reason" is not a concept album. It includes writing contributions from outside songwriters, following Gilmour's decision to include material once intended for his third solo album.

The third Pink Floyd album recorded under the leadership of guitarist David Gilmour, after the departure of bassist Roger Waters in 1985, and the first following the death of keyboardist Richard Wright in 2008, who appears posthumously. Gilmour said it would be the final Pink Floyd album.
"The Endless River" comprises Instrumental and Ambient music based on material recorded during sessions for the band's previous album, "The Division Bell" (1994). Additional material was recorded in 2013 and 2014 on Gilmour's Astoria boat studio and in Medina Studios in Hove, England. Only one track, "Louder than Words", has lead vocals.
The Endless River was promoted with the "Louder than Words" single and artwork installations in cities around the world. It became the most pre-ordered album of all time on Amazon UK, and debuted at number one in several countries. The vinyl edition was the fastest-selling UK vinyl release since 1997. The album received mixed reviews; some critics praised the nostalgic mood, while others found it unambitious or meandering.

A transitional album on which the band moved from Syd Barrett's relatively concise and vivid songs to spacy, ethereal material with lengthy instrumental passages. The album was recorded before and after Syd Barrett's departure from the band. With Barrett's behaviour becoming increasingly unpredictable, David Gilmour was recruited to compliment Barrett, and eventually to replace him. As a result, "A Saucerful Of Secrets" became the only non-compilation Pink Floyd album on which all five band members appeared, the first for Gilmour (with him appearing on five songs), and the last for Barrett (with him on three). "Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun" was the only song all five members appeared on together.
"Remember a Day" and "See Saw" are highlights; on "Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun", "Let There Be More Light", and the lengthy instrumental title track, the band begin to map out the dark and repetitive pulses that would characterize their next few records.
Upon release, "A Saucerful Of Secrets" reached number nine in the UK charts, but failed to chart at all in the US until 2019, when it peaked at 158. However, when it was reissued as "A Nice Pair" with the original version of "The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn", after the success of "The Dark Side Of The Moon", the album did chart at number 36 on the Billboard 200.

This is a soundtrack for the 1969 French hippie film "More", which was primarily filmed on location on Ibiza and was the directorial debut of Barbet Schroeder.
This is Pink Floyd's first full album without founding member Syd Barrett, who was ousted from the band in 1968, during the recording of "A Saucerful Of Secrets". It is one of only three Pink Floyd albums to feature David Gilmour as the sole lead vocalist, the others being 1987's "A Momentary Lapse Of Reason" and 2014's "The Endless River", and it is also the first album to be produced by Pink Floyd without assistance from Norman Smith. It is the only album in the band's discography not to have a lead vocal from Roger Waters during his tenure in the band (1964–1985).
The album contains some acoustic Folk ballads, a genre that appeared sparsely on Pink Floyd's later works. It also contains some of the band's "heaviest" recordings, such as "The Nile Song" and "Ibiza Bar", as well as several instrumental tracks, featuring their Experimental and Avant-garde approach.
More reached number 9 in the UK and, upon re-release in 1973, number 153 in the US.

The first album by the band released on the Harvest label. It's a double album and contains two discs. The first one consists of live recordings from concerts at Mothers Club in Birmingham and the College of Commerce in Manchester that contained part of their normal set list at the time, while the second contains solo compositions by each member of the band recorded at EMI Studios (now Abbey Road Studios).
The album's title supposedly comes from Cambridge slang for sex, commonly used by Pink Floyd friend and occasional roadie, Iain "Emo" Moore, who would say, "I'm going back to the house for some ummagumma". According to Moore, he made up the term himself.
Although the album was well received at the time of release, and was a top five hit in the UK album charts, it has since been looked upon unfavourably by the band, who have expressed negative opinions about it in interviews.
The album reached number 5 on the UK albums chart and number 74 in the US, marking the first time the band reached the top 100 there. Similarly, in Canada it was their first appearance on the charts, reaching number 78. The album was certified Gold in the US in February 1974 and Platinum in March 1994.
For many years, this double-LP was one of the most popular albums in Pink Floyd's pre-"Dark Side Of The Moon" output.

One of the most acclaimed concept albums of all time, “The Wall” is renowned as Roger Waters’ Rock Opera dealing with abandonment and personal isolation. 
It is a rock opera that explores Pink, a jaded Rock Star whose eventual self-imposed isolation from society forms a figurative wall. From 1980 to 1981, Pink Floyd performed the full album on a tour that featured elaborate theatrical effects. In 1982, "The Wall" was adapted by Alan Parker into a feature film, for which Waters wrote the screenplay, featuring Bob Geldof in the lead role.
There was some controversy when the British press reported that the children had not been paid for their efforts; they were eventually given copies of the album, and the school received a £1,000 donation (£5,000 in contemporary value).
Some of the out-takes from the recording sessions were used on the band's next album, "The Final Cut" (1983).
The album was a commercial success, topping the US charts for 15 weeks and reaching number three in the UK. It initially received mixed reviews from critics, many of whom found it overblown and pretentious, but later received accolades as one of the greatest albums of all time and one of the band's finest works. The Single "Another Brick In The Wall, Part 2" yielded the U.S. and U.K. #1 hit. The album topped the Billboard charts for 15 weeks, selling over a million copies in its first two months of sales, and in 1999 was certified 23× Platinum. The album was nominated for the Grammy Award for Album of the Year.
"The Wall" is one of the best-known concept albums. With over 30 million copies sold, it is the second best-selling album in the band's catalogue (behind 1973's "The Dark Side Of The Moon"), the best-selling double-album of all time, and one of the best-selling albums of all time overall. In 2000, it was voted number 30 in Colin Larkin's "All Time Top 1000 Albums". The last Pink Floyd album to feature founding member Roger Waters, who departed in 1985. It is also the only Pink Floyd album not to feature founding member and keyboardist Richard Wright, whom Waters fired during "The Wall" sessions. The recording was plagued by conflict; guitarist David Gilmour felt many of the tracks were not worthy of inclusion, but Waters accused him of failing to contribute material himself. Drummer Nick Mason's contributions were mostly limited to sound effects.
Waters planned the album as a soundtrack for the 1982 film adaptation of "The Wall". The album contains unused material from the previous Pink Floyd record, "The Wall" (1979), alongside new material recorded throughout 1982. "The Final Cut" is an anti-war concept album that explores what Waters regards as the betrayal of fallen British servicemen—such as his father—who during the Second World War sacrificed their lives in the spirit of a post-war dream. Waters provided lead vocals for all but one track, and he is credited for all songwriting. The album was accompanied by a short film, also titled "The Final Cut", released in the same year.
"The Final Cut" was a commercial success, reaching number one in the UK, surpassing "The Dark Side Of The Moon" and "The Wall". It was less successful in US, peaking at number six on the Billboard album charts.
With over 1,000,000 units shipped in the United States, the Recording Industry Association of America certified "The Final Cut" Platinum in May 1983. It was given double Platinum certification in 1997. "The Final Cut" has sold over 2 million copies, however, it was the lowest-selling Pink Floyd studio album in the United States and worldwide since "Meddle".

The album was recorded during the European leg of Pink Floyd's Division Bell Tour in 1994. Pink Floyd claim they had no intention of recording another live album when they began the Division Bell tour, but performing "The Dark Side of the Moon" in its entirety convinced the band to release another double-live set. 
Unlike the previous live album, "Delicate Sound Of Thunder", no parts of the songs were re-recorded in the studio. However, the band and Guthrie fixed songs that had bad notes (as heard on some bootlegs) by lifting solos and corrected vocal lines from other performances as the band recorded most of the European leg. The album was mixed in QSound, which produces a 3D audio effect even on a two channel stereo system.
The album is notable for including a complete live version of "The Dark Side of the Moon". It also features "Astronomy Domine", a Syd Barrett song not performed since the early 1970s. The track "Another Brick in the Wall, Part II" features small portions of the songs "Another Brick in the Wall, Part I", "The Happiest Days of Our Lives" and "Another Brick in the Wall, Part III".
The debut of the album was highlighted by a light show from the top of the Empire State Building in New York City with music simulcast on a New York City radio station.
In the United States, "Pulse" debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 during the week of 24 June 1995 with 198,000 copies sold. It became the first multidisc album to top the Billboard 200. The next week it fell off to number three on the chart. "Pulse" remained on the chart for twenty-two weeks. The album was certified 2x Platinum by the RIAA on 31 July 1995 for shipments of one million units.
On 1 July 1995, the video version of "Pulse" debuted at number one on the Billboard's Top Music Videos chart with 16,500 units sold. The video was certified 9x Platinum by the RIAA on 31 July 2006 for shipments of 800,000 units.
The vinyl version released as a four-LP box set and includes "One of These Days" (also heard on the cassette release) as well as a large version of the photo booklet.

First re-release of the thirteenth full-length studio album by legendary British Psychedelic/Progressive Rock band.
The first Pink Floyd album recorded without founding member Roger Waters, who departed in 1985.  The album saw the return of keyboardist and founding member Richard Wright, who had resigned from the band under pressure from Waters during the recording of "The Wall" (1979). It was recorded primarily on guitarist David Gilmour's converted houseboat, Astoria. The production was marred by legal fights over the rights to the Pink Floyd name, which were not resolved until several months after release.
Unlike most earlier Pink Floyd records, "A Momentary Lapse Of Reason" is not a concept album. It includes writing contributions from outside songwriters, following Gilmour's decision to include material once intended for his third solo album.
"A Momentary Lapse Of Reason" reached number three in the UK and US, and outsold Pink Floyd's previous album "The Final Cut" (1983).

Remastered re-release of the fourth full-length studio album by legendary British Psychedelic/Space Rock band.
The first album by the band released on the Harvest label. It's a double album and contains two discs. The first one consists of live recordings from concerts at Mothers Club in Birmingham and the College of Commerce in Manchester that contained part of their normal set list at the time, while the second contains solo compositions by each member of the band recorded at EMI Studios (now Abbey Road Studios).
The album's title supposedly comes from Cambridge slang for sex, commonly used by Pink Floyd friend and occasional roadie, Iain "Emo" Moore, who would say, "I'm going back to the house for some ummagumma". According to Moore, he made up the term himself.
Although the album was well received at the time of release, and was a top five hit in the UK album charts, it has since been looked upon unfavourably by the band, who have expressed negative opinions about it in interviews.
The album reached number 5 on the UK albums chart and number 74 in the US, marking the first time the band reached the top 100 there. Similarly, in Canada it was their first appearance on the charts, reaching number 78. The album was certified Gold in the US in February 1974 and Platinum in March 1994.
For many years, this double-LP was one of the most popular albums in Pink Floyd's pre-"Dark Side Of The Moon" output.

Remastered re-release of the sixth full-length studio album by legendary British Psychedelic/Space/Progressive Rock band.
The album was produced between the band's touring commitments, from January to August 1971 at a series of locations around London, including EMI Studios (now Abbey Road Studios) and Morgan Studios. With no material to work with and no clear idea of the album's direction, the band devised a series of novel experiments which eventually inspired the album's signature track "Echoes". Although the band's later albums would be unified by a central theme with lyrics written entirely by Roger Waters, "Meddle" was a group effort with lyrics primarily by Waters, and is considered a transitional album between the Syd Barrett-influenced band of the late 1960s and the Waters-led era.
The album was well received by critics upon its release, and reached number three in the United Kingdom, but lacklustre publicity on the part of the band's American label Capitol Records led to poor sales there upon initial release. "Meddle" was later certified Gold by the RIAA on 29 October 1973 and then double Platinum on 11 March 1994, following the added attention garnered by the band's later successes in the United States.
The album was voted number 255 in the third edition of Colin Larkin's book "All Time Top 1000 Albums" (2000).

One of the most acclaimed concept albums of all time, “The Wall” is renowned as Roger Waters’ Rock Opera dealing with abandonment and personal isolation. 
It is a rock opera that explores Pink, a jaded Rock Star whose eventual self-imposed isolation from society forms a figurative wall. From 1980 to 1981, Pink Floyd performed the full album on a tour that featured elaborate theatrical effects. In 1982, "The Wall" was adapted by Alan Parker into a feature film, for which Waters wrote the screenplay, featuring Bob Geldof in the lead role.
There was some controversy when the British press reported that the children had not been paid for their efforts; they were eventually given copies of the album, and the school received a £1,000 donation (£5,000 in contemporary value).
Some of the out-takes from the recording sessions were used on the band's next album, "The Final Cut" (1983).
The album was a commercial success, topping the US charts for 15 weeks and reaching number three in the UK. It initially received mixed reviews from critics, many of whom found it overblown and pretentious, but later received accolades as one of the greatest albums of all time and one of the band's finest works. The Single "Another Brick In The Wall, Part 2" yielded the U.S. and U.K. #1 hit. The album topped the Billboard charts for 15 weeks, selling over a million copies in its first two months of sales, and in 1999 was certified 23× Platinum. The album was nominated for the Grammy Award for Album of the Year.
"The Wall" is one of the best-known concept albums. With over 30 million copies sold, it is the second best-selling album in the band's catalogue (behind 1973's "The Dark Side Of The Moon"), the best-selling double-album of all time, and one of the best-selling albums of all time overall. In 2000, it was voted number 30 in Colin Larkin's "All Time Top 1000 Albums". Rolling Stone placed it at number 87 on its "500 Greatest Albums of All Time" list in 2003, maintaining the rating in a 2012 revised list, although this was updated to 129 with the list's 2020 revision. Based on such rankings, the aggregate website Acclaimed Music lists "The Wall" as the 166th most acclaimed album in history.
