MIKE OLDFIELD “Voyager” /LP/

For the first time on vinyl, the seventeenth full-length studio album by legendary British Progressive/Ambient/Experimental Pop/Rock musician.
In 1992, after leaving Virgin, Mike signed a three album contract with Warner records. Starting with "Tubular Bells II", "Voyager" was the last of the three, recorded to finish this contract off. Oldfield stayed with Warner until 2003, where his final album for the label was "Tubular Bells 2003".
Released in 1996 by Warner Music UK, it is a Celtic-themed album with new compositions intertwined with traditional pieces. The suggestion of doing a Celtic album came from the record company, who no doubt had in mind the popularity of acts such as Riverdance at the time. Mike liked the idea, feeling that Celtic music was easy for him, as his natural way of playing music is rooted in Celtic playing styles. What emerged was a very calm, relaxed album, with this feel influenced by Mike's then recent discoveries of meditations and Tai Chi. In an interview from the time, Oldfield claimed that the album was one of his quickest to create, only taking a month and a half to record, also claiming that he composed and recorded some songs in one morning.
