The untitled fourth studio album, commonly known as "Led Zeppelin IV". After the band's previous album "Led Zeppelin III" received lukewarm reviews from critics, band decided their fourth album would officially be untitled, and would be represented instead by four symbols chosen by each band member, without featuring the name or any other details on the cover.
Encompassing Heavy Metal, Folk, pure Rock & Roll, and Blues, this album is a monolithic record, defining not only Led Zeppelin, but the sound and style of '70s Hard Rock. Led Zeppelin fuse their majestic Hard Rock with a mystical, rural English Folk, that gives the record an Epic scope. At its basic, the album has a grand sense of drama, which is only deepened by Robert Plant's burgeoning obsession with mythology, religion, and the occult. Plant's mysticism comes to a head on the eerie Folk ballad "The Battle of Evermore", a mandolin-driven song with haunting vocals from Sandy Denny, and on the epic "Stairway to Heaven". Of all of Zeppelin's songs, "Stairway to Heaven" is the most famous, and not unjustly. Building from a simple fingerpicked acoustic guitar to a storming torrent of guitar riffs and solos, it encapsulates the entire album in one song. Which, of course, isn't discounting the rest of the album. "Going to California" is the band's best Folk song, and the rockers are endlessly inventive, whether it's the complex, multi-layered "Black Dog", the pounding Hippie satire "Misty Mountain Hop", or the Funky riffs of "Four Sticks". In 2003, the album was ranked number 69 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of "The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time", which described it as "the peak of Seventies Hard Rock". The album was a commercial and critical success and is Led Zeppelin's best-selling, shipping over 37 million copies worldwide as of 2014. In 2016, Classic Rock Magazine ranked "Led Zeppelin IV" as the greatest of all Led Zeppelin albums. As of 2018, it is tied for third-highest-certified album in the US by the Recording Industry Association of America at 23× Platinum.

Led Zeppelin had a fully formed, distinctive sound from the outset, as their eponymous debut illustrates. Taking the heavy, distorted electric Blues of Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck and Cream to an extreme, Zeppelin created a majestic, powerful brand of guitar Rock constructed around simple, memorable riffs and lumbering rhythms. But the key to the band's attack was subtlety: it wasn't just an onslaught of guitar noise, it was shaded and textured, filled with alternating dynamics and tempos. First European remastered re-release of the fifth full-length studio album by legendary British Blues/Hard Rock band.
The album represents a turning point in musical direction for the band, who had begun to record songs with more layering and production techniques, in contrast to the simpler Rock music heard on earlier albums. The album benefited from several band members installing studios at home, which allowed them to develop more sophisticated songs and arrangements, and expand their musical style.
Houses of the Holy follows the same basic pattern as "Led Zeppelin IV", but the approach is looser and more relaxed. Jimmy Page's riffs rely on ringing; Folky hooks as much as they do on thundering Blues Rock, giving the album a lighter, more open atmosphere. While the pseudo-Reggae of "D'Yer Mak'er" and the affectionate James Brown send-up "The Crunge" suggest that the band was searching for material, they actually contribute to the musical diversity of the album. "The Rain Song" is one of Zeppellin's finest moments, featuring a soaring string arrangement and a gentle, aching melody. "The Ocean" is just as good, starting with a heavy, Funky guitar groove before slamming into a cappella section and ending with a swinging, doo wop-flavored rave-up. With the exception of the rampaging opening number, "The Song Remains the Same", the rest of "Houses Of The Holy" is fairly straightforward, ranging from the foreboding "No Quarter" and the strutting Hard Rock of "Dancing Days" to the epic Folk/Metal fusion "Over the Hills and Far Away". Throughout the record, the band's playing is excellent, making the eclecticism of Jimmy Page and Robert Plant's songwriting sound coherent and natural.
Several songs subsequently became fixtures in the band's live set, including "The Song Remains the Same", "The Rain Song" and "No Quarter". Other material recorded at the sessions, including the title track, was shelved and released on the later albums "Physical Graffiti" and "Coda".
In 1974, the album was nominated for a Grammy Award in the category of Best Album Package. The cover was rated #6 on VH1's 50 Greatest Album Covers in 2003.
Although critical response was mixed, "Houses Of The Holy" became a commercial success and topped the UK charts, and spent 39 weeks on the Billboard 200 albums chart, including two weeks at number one (their longest stint since Led Zeppelin III). It was later certified 11x Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in 1999. In 2012, the album was ranked at #148 on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

"Led Zeppelin III" was one of the most eagerly awaited albums of 1970, and advance orders in the US alone were close to the million mark.
On their first two albums, Led Zeppelin unleashed a relentless barrage of heavy Blues and Rockabilly riffs, but “Led Zeppelin III” provided the band with the necessary room to grow musically. While there are still a handful of Metallic rockers, "III" is built on a Folky, acoustic foundation that gives the music extra depth.
And even the rockers aren't as straightforward as before: the galloping "Immigrant Song" is powered by Robert Plant's banshee wail, "Celebration Day" turns Blues Rock inside out with a warped slide guitar riff, and "Out on the Tiles" lumbers along with a tricky, multi-part riff. Nevertheless, the heart of the album lies on the second side, when the band delve deeply into English Folk. "Gallows Pole" updates a traditional tune with a menacing flair, and "Bron-Y-Aur Stomp" is an infectious acoustic romp, while "That's the Way" and "Tangerine" are shimmering songs with graceful country flourishes. The band hasn't left the blues behind, but the twisted bottleneck Blues of "Hats off to (Roy) Harper" actually outstrips the epic "Since I've Been Loving You," which is the only time Zeppelin sound a bit set in their ways.

The cover and interior gatefold art consisted of a surreal collection of seemingly random images on a white background, many of them connected thematically with flight or aviation (as in "Zeppelin"). Behind the front cover was a rotatable laminated card disc, or volvelle, covered with more images, including photos of the band members, which showed through holes in the cover. Moving an image into place behind one hole would usually bring one or two others into place behind other holes.
"Led Zeppelin III" was a trans-Atlantic #1 hit. It spent four weeks at the top of the Billboard chart, while it entered that British chart at #1 and remained there for three weeks (returning to the top for a further week on 12 December). In spite of its initially indifferent reviews and lower sales than Led Zeppelin's other early albums, "Led Zeppelin III"'s reputation has recovered considerably with the passage of time. The RIAA certified the album 2x Platinum in 1990, and 6x Platinum in 1999. Despite the album going to number 1 in the UK charts, it is the only Led Zeppelin album not to have a certification in the UK. The 2014 reissue of the album helped itself get back into the Billboard Top 10 just barely when it got to #10.

On December 10, 2007, Led Zeppelin took the stage at London’s O2 Arena to headline a tribute concert for dear friend and Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun. What followed was a two-hour-plus tour de force of the band’s signature Blues-infused Rock ’n’ Roll that instantly became part of the legend of Led Zeppelin. Founding members John Paul Jones, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant were joined by Jason Bonham, the son of their late drummer John Bonham, to perform 16 songs from their celebrated catalog including landmark tracks “Whole Lotta Love”, “Rock And Roll”, “Kashmir” and “Stairway To Heaven”...
Although 20 million people applied for tickets, the band’s first headline show in 27 years was seen only by the 18,000 ticket holders who were fortunate enough to have secured seats through the worldwide lottery.
The film of "Celebration Day saw a worldwide theatrical release by Omniverse Vision on 1,500 screens in over 40 territories on October 17.
Contrary to popular perception, Led Zeppelin isn't exactly averse to reunions. If anything, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant can't keep away from each other. Just four years after John Bonham's 1980 death, Page laid down guitar on Robert Plant's oldies act the Honeydrippers, and not long after that, John Paul Jones joined the pair for a performance at 1985's Live Aid Festival. That set was trashed by the public and band alike, as was their subsequent 1988 appearance at Atlantic Records' 40th Anniversary celebration, but despite these lackluster gigs, rumors of a full-fledged reunion continued to circulate well into the new millennium, even after Page & Plant recorded a pair of albums in the mid-'90s, a project that caused tension with Jones, who was unaware of the collaboration until its release. Eventually, all the bad blood cooled and the trio once again reunited, this time with Bonham's son Jason on drums, for a full-fledged set as the headliners for the 2007 Ahmet Ertegun Tribute Concert. Five years later, this reunion was finally released as "Celebration Day", a live album available either as 2CD set, letting the world at large experience what was roundly and rightly acclaimed as a near-perfect reunion.
"Celebration Day" is an ideal coda for Led Zeppelin, proof that the band's skills only deepened with age. Never once does the band sound as if they're grasping at re-creating their youth; they've selected a set Heavy on Blues, atmosphere, and hits, songs that allow each member, including Jason Bonham, to stretch out and casually flaunt his skills. Plant may no longer be able to reach the soaring highs he did in the '70s, but his lowered range gives "Black Dog" and "The Song Remains the Same" gravity, and helps give "Trampled Under Foot" a gut-level punch. Page still can muff a note or two, so can the band, actually, with Plant missing a line on the opening "Good Times Bad Times", a mistake that's thankfully left uncorrected, but his imagination is unchained, and, when compared to the Page/Plant records of the '90s, it becomes clear how much Jones contributed to the band's chemistry, lending it grit and funk ("Misty Mountain Hop" grooves more than any song without bass should), deepening and coloring Page's riffs, letting the band bounce out and return to center. All of this unique chemistry is evident on "Celebration Day", underscored ever so slightly by the presence of Jason Bonham, the son of the king who now seems like the only possible heir to the throne, emphasizing that the band is a family affair, and while this reunion is so unexpectedly, impossibly good that you'd want to experience this in the flesh, it also underscores the wisdom of leaving this as a one-time thing. This is so good that this is how you want to remember them: older, perhaps wiser, and still majestic!!
Album debuted on the Billboard 200 at ninth place. According to the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), "Celebration Day" was the 13th global best-selling album of 2012 with sales of 1.8 million copies. It's won the Grammy Award for Best Rock Album at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards, and the rendition of "Kashmir" featured on the album was nominated for the award for Best Rock Performance.

"Led Zeppelin III" was a trans-Atlantic #1 hit. It spent four weeks at the top of the Billboard chart, while it entered that British chart at #1 and remained there for three weeks (returning to the top for a further week on 12 December). In spite of its initially indifferent reviews and lower sales than Led Zeppelin's other early albums, "Led Zeppelin III"'s reputation has recovered considerably with the passage of time. The RIAA certified the album 2x Platinum in 1990, and 6x Platinum in 1999. Despite the album going to number 1 in the UK charts, it is the only Led Zeppelin album not to have a certification in the UK. The 2014 reissue of the album helped itself get back into the Billboard Top 10 just barely when it got to #10.

Led Zeppelin had a fully formed, distinctive sound from the outset, as their eponymous debut illustrates. Taking the heavy, distorted electric Blues of Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck and Cream to an extreme, Zeppelin created a majestic, powerful brand of guitar Rock constructed around simple, memorable riffs and lumbering rhythms. But the key to the band's attack was subtlety: it wasn't just an onslaught of guitar noise, it was shaded and textured, filled with alternating dynamics and tempos. As Led Zeppelin proves, the band was capable of such multi-layered music from the start. Although the extended Psychedelic Blues of "Dazed and Confused", "You Shook Me" and "I Can't Quit You Baby" often gather the most attention, the remainder of the album is a better indication of what would come later. "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" shifts from Folky verses to pummeling choruses; "Good Times Bad Times" and "How Many More Times" have Groovy, Bluesy shuffles; "Your Time Is Gonna Come" is an anthemic Hard Rocker; "Black Mountain Side" is pure English Folk; and "Communication Breakdown" is a frenzied Rocker with a nearly Punkish attack. Although the album isn't as varied as some of their later efforts, it nevertheless marked a significant turning point in the evolution of Hard Rock and Heavy Metal!
Although the album initially received negative reviews, it was commercially very successful and has now come to be regarded in a much more positive light by critics. In 2003, the album was ranked number 29 on Rolling Stone Magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. When Rolling Stone updated the list in 2012 the album remained ranked at 29th greatest of all time!!

Remastered re-release of the eighth and the final full-length studio album by legendary British Art Rock/Hard Rock band.
Marshalling their strength after the dark interlude of "Presence" - a period that extended far after its 1976 release, with the band spending a year in tax exile and Robert Plant suffering another personal tragedy when his son died - Led Zeppelin decided to push into new sonic territory on their eighth album.
In contrast to previous Led Zeppelin albums, "In Through The Out Door" features much greater influence on the part of bassist and keyboardist John Paul Jones and vocalist Robert Plant, and relatively less from drummer John Bonham and guitarist Jimmy Page, who often failed to show up on time at the recording studio. Bonham was struggling with alcoholism and Page was battling heroin addiction. Jones later said, "there were two distinct camps by then, and we (Plant and I) were in the relatively clean one." Many of the songs were consequently put together by Plant and Jones during the day, with Page and Bonham adding their parts late at night. Jones was inspired by the Yamaha GX-1 synthesizer he had recently purchased, and he was "working closely with Robert, which was something that had not happened before".
The original album featured an unusual gimmick: the album had an outer sleeve which was made to look like a plain brown paper bag (reminiscent of similarly packaged bootleg album sleeves with the title rubber-stamped on it), and the inner sleeve featured black and white line artwork which, if washed with water, would become permanently fully colored. There were also six different sleeves featuring a different pair of photos (one on each side), and the external brown paper sleeve meant that it was impossible for record buyers to tell which sleeve they were getting. The pictures all depicted the same scene in a bar (in which a man burns a Dear John letter), and each photo was taken from the separate point of view of someone who appeared in the other photos. The walls are covered with thousands of yellowed business cards and dollar bills. The photo session in a London studio was meant to look like a re-creation of the Old Absinthe House, in New Orleans, Louisiana. The album artwork was designed by Hipgnosis' Storm Thorgerson. In 1980, Hipgnosis was nominated for a Grammy Award in the category of Best Album Package for "In Through The Out Door". A replica of the brown bag included in this re-edition.
The album was released before drummer John Bonham died on 29 September 1980, leading the band to disband.
"In Through The Out Door" was a huge commercial success; it went to the No. 1 on Billboard's chart in just its second week on the American chart, reportedly selling 1.7 million copies within days of release. It remained on the US top spot for seven weeks and sold three million copies by the end of September 1979. It also went to No. 1 in the UK, Japan, Germany, Canada and New Zealand. The album was credited with helping to revive the US record industry, which had begun to struggle. On this album's release, Led Zeppelin's entire catalogue made the Billboard 200 between the weeks of 23 October and 3 November 1979, an unprecedented feat, topping their own record in 1975, when all their albums up to "Physical Graffiti" were on the chart. It was the band's final studio release to reach the top of the charts in the United States. "In Through The Out Door" is the Led Zeppelin album that has spent the most weeks on the top of the charts (tied with "Led Zeppelin II"). To date, the album has sold six million copies in the US.

Newly remastered from the Original Master Tapes by guitarist and producer Jimmy Page, this double album is accompanied by a third disc, "Companion Audio", comprising previously unreleased music related to the original release. It has seven unreleased tracks, including rough mixes of “In My Time Of Dying” and “Houses Of The Holy”, as well as an early mix of “Trampled Under Foot” called “Brandy & Coke”. All the unreleased companion tracks offer fans a chance to hear well-known songs from a different perspective, including the Sunset Sound mix of “Boogie with Stu” and “Driving Through Kashmir”, a rough orchestra mix of the band’s eight-minute opus “Kashmir”. Also featured is “Everybody Makes It Through”, a strikingly different early version of “In the Light” with alternate lyrics.
