L.A. GUNS “Shrinking Violet” /CD/

The third full-length studio album by legendary American Glam Metal band.
Released in 1991, the meticulous production gives the album a sound typical of the period - a full sound, with lots of background harmony vocals, layered guitars and additional keyboard tracks.
The album starts in a more somber note with "Over the Edge", which was used in the film Point Break, but the bulk of it consists of standard Hard Rockers, such as "Kiss My Love Goodbye" and "My Koo Ka Choo". The band aims for the ballad hit several times, in "Crystal Eyes", "It's Over Now", and the 1950s-style "I Found You", attempting to repeat the earlier success of their major single "The Ballad of Jayne".
While no track from the album topped the charts (and the band's success declined soon afterwards as their style fell out of commercial favor), "Hollywood Vampires" presents various shades of the band and is representative of the late 1980s - early 1990s Heavy Metal scene, with riff-laden songs and big choruses on every song.
Rare first pressing edition with slightly different track listing. Track 11 is "The Ballad Of Jayne" (a shorter version than the one that appeared on the "Cocked & Loaded" album) instead of the song "I Found You" which appeared on other pressings.

The first re-release of the debut full-length studio album by legendary American Glam Metal band.
Material for the debut L.A. Guns release was drawn from the band's formative years. A ragged collection of outcasts from various other bands (guitarist Tracii Guns was the original "guns" in Guns N' Roses, drummer Steven Riley had recently vacated the stool with Shock-kings W.A.S.P., and British vocalist Phil Lewis had done time with London glamsters Girl), they elevated the unrepentant sleaziness and undeniable tackiness of their environment to a new low. 
It is the only L.A. Guns release to feature drummer Nickey "Beat" Alexander, who was replaced by Steve Riley before it was released. 
L.A. Guns was a minor domestic commercial success. The album spent 33 weeks on the Billboard 200 albums chart, peaking at number 50 in April 1988. It was also certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America in 1993, certifying sales in excess of 500,000 units.
In 2017, Metal Hammer included the album in their list of "The 10 Hair Metal albums you need in your record collection".
