Headhunter was founded in 1989 under the name Curse, after Schmier was fired from Destruction. They recorded a 6-song demo in 1989/90, all the tracks of which later being re-recorded for the "Parody Of Life" debut album. Headhunter released three albums and toured Germany and Japan before splitting up in the mid-90s. Years later, they reformed and released another album in 2008.

Headhunter were founded by Schmier in 1989, after he was fired from Destruction. Second famous person in the band is Jörg Michael (Living Death, ex-Avenger, ex-Axel Rudi Pell, ex-Grave Digger, ex-Mekong Delta, ex-Onkel Tom Angelripper, ex-Rage, ex-Running Wild, ex-Saxon, ex-Stratovarius). And the third musician is Uwe "Schmuddel" Hoffmann.
"A Bizarre Gardening Accident" is a damn fine technically infuriating, fast Thrash Metal album, that continues to expand the work begun with the debut, "Parody Of Life". The band offers explosive, melodic Thrash in the vein of Destruction, with a dozen or so riffs to die for. But what surprised is that the band are also quite good at slower fare, with a more Traditional Metal gate.
It's amazing to think that while his alma mater, Destruction, was withering into a cesspool of misled ideas and pathetic execution, Schmier was excelling in his new home. However, we should also extend credit to the other musicians here, who are quite excellent on their own. Michael needs no introduction, perhaps, but Schmuddel is simply an ace, a riff wizard whose presence lightens each composition into the rugged bliss so enjoyable in German Thrash and Speed Metal.
If you like Schmier, and you like fun, then by all means check this out!!
