The fourth full-length studio album by the legendary American Heavy Metal singer and his band.
"Dream Evil" is by no means a departure from the Dio formula that was so successful for his first three solo albums. All of the elements that made them so successful are yet again retained here. However, what makes things different this time around is that Dio has more of a melodious side to him, which he puts use here rather than relying on the riffs and delivery he learned at the school of Black Sabbath. He even touches on the power ballad (a sure sign that the style had fully infiltrated Metal) with "All the Fool Sailed Away". The title track and "Sunset Superman" also proved to be two of Dio's most well-known, and most loved songs in his massive catalog.
The album features former Rough Cutt members Craig Goldy and Claude Schnell, and includes the singles "All the Fools Sailed Away" and "I Could Have Been a Dreamer".
Dream Evil was Dio's last album to feature Murray on the cover and also the last to feature drummer Vinny Appice until the 1993 album "Strange Highways".
Excellent album, a must have for the Dio faithful and for fans of traditional Metal in the 80s mold!!

The fifth full-length album by the legendary American Heavy Metal singer and his band.
This album displayed a complete change of musician line-up over the previous “Dream Evil” album, including the eighteen year old guitarist, Rowan Robertson, and the addition of Simon Wright on drums who previously played with AC/DC (1983-1989). But it's no apparent change in the band's sound. Nevertheless, the band's status in the Metal community was beginning to slip, and the album was the lowest-charting Dio record apart from the live "Intermission".
This album possesses an unusual sound. the riffs, for the most part, are pretty basic Heavy Metal riffs but that have a very epic and noble sound, similarly to riffs found in Power Metal. Yet, there is only one guitarist and although he does do some nice lead work, its nothing like the lead work in Power Metal. Moreover, its visible that the main focus of this band is Dio's powerful voice and interesting lyrics. In other words, there are no instrumental songs, no long instrumental sections, and no long guitar or any instrument solos. Dio's melodic voice along with the epic guitar riffs and just present enough drums make a grand combination. A combination unique.
Strong album with nice, catchy melodies, pretty heavy riffs, good vocals and excellent lyrics!!

The third full-length studio album by legendary American Heavy Metal band.
Keeping the same line-up, Dio didn't waste much time, releasing on August 15, 1985 the highly anticipated third album. Even if this new release followed the same musical and lyrical formula of the previous albums, this record is somehow trapped in Ronnie's indecision about "Sacred Heart"'s overall musical direction. If songs like "King of Rock and Roll" or "Sacred Heart" somewhat keep the original "Holy Diver" soul, firmly based on strong stylish riffs and a classic Hard Rock rhythm section, that always avoid overacting performances, tracks like "Rock 'n' Roll Children" or "Hungry for Heaven" are clearly more mainstream compositions, deliberately made to please the vastest audiences that could push "Sacred Heart" into the always commercially tempting US billboard.
Even with different musical approaches, "King of Rock and Roll", "Sacred Heart", "Rock 'n' Roll Children" and the extremely catchy "Hungry for Heaven" are all great songs that largely please Dio's demanding fan base.
This was the last Dio album to include guitarist Vivian Campbell, who went on to join several other bands, most notably Def Leppard, Riverdogs, Whitesnake and Thin Lizzy.
The top level musical performances from this now legendary line-up, with honorable mentions to Vivian Campbell's inspired guitar work and Ronnie James Dio's always amazing vocal performance, also give that extra push to place "Sacred Heart" among Dio's most respectable releases.
Album peaked at #29 on the Billboard 200. It is one of Dio's most well-known albums, including singles such as "Sacred Heart", "Rock 'n' Roll Children" and "Hungry for Heaven". The RIAA certified “Sacred Heart” Gold (500,000 units sold) on October 15, 1985.

The second full-length studio album by legendary Heavy Metal band.
Dio shows his devil's horns to the universe once again with his second album. His unique sounding vocals dominating each and every song. There are a lot of similarities to "Holy Diver", but there are some subtle differences, too. The end result is almost equally impressive, though, and "The Last In Line" stands as one of the highlights of Dio's career.
When Dio's debut album "Holy Diver" landed on the shelves of music stores, people were absolutely blown away by it. The guitar harmonies, Ronnie James Dio's pitch-perfect tenor, and amazingly well done song compositions were all unbelievably good and stand tall even till this day. The first thing when listening to this release was the fact that the songs are much faster. The opener "We Rock" is one of the best openers you ever heard. It just takes hold of you and rocks the hell out of you. The riffs by Vivian Campbell are very well done again, this time taking on more of a 80s Metal approach, than the Rock influenced guitar riffs we heard on "Holy Diver". His guitar work really shows his abilities to draw you in to his leads and solos. Dio's vocals are amazing as always. He sings with a lot of emotion and instantly makes every song have a memorable chorus, which is always important for this type of Metal.
The production, considering the time and the technology available, is excellent. You can hear all the instruments perfectly at all times.
This is an album of classic Metal greatness, well worthy of the attention of any fan of Speed, Power, Progressive or traditional Metal.
The album was certified Gold (500000 units sold) by the RIAA on September 12, 1984, and was the first Dio album to be certified Platinum, achieving the feat on February 3, 1987.
In the UK, it attained Silver certification (60000 units sold) by the British Phonographic Industry, achieving this in January 1986, at the same time as “Holy Diver”.

For the first time officially on vinyl, remastered release of the seventh full-length studio album by legendary American Heavy Metal band.
Originally released on CD in 1996, it was the last studio album to feature original drummer Vinny Appice. Also, this was the last Dio's record with Tracy G on guitar, quite an unpopular axeman because during his tenure the band had a penchant for that 'modern Metal' sound that many Dio fans rejected and still reject.
The nineties were a challenging time for almost any established Heavy Rock and Metal band and from the evidence served up by their 1994 album "Strange Highways" and its follow up some two years later, "Angry Machines", not even Rock royalty were immune. "Angry Machines" was the least of Dio’s commercially successful albums, with sales estimated at 36 000 only.
"Angry Machines" was very clearly a lesson learned for Dio. This was the first and last time he tried to 'get with' the times. A few years after this album, Dio would have a great comeback. He'd go back to his high fantasy roots, but at the same time change the band's sound and style, so it didn't seem like he was merely trying to rehash the past. He'd bring back old faces that had fresh ideas. Meanwhile, "Angry Machines" isn't an album so bad that it deserves to be skipped over. There are smatterings of unique moments. Just know what you're getting into when you listen to it. After all, if we ignore the lessons of the past, we'd be doomed to repeat them in the future!
In 2019, "Angry Machines" was remastered.

The album was released internationally in 1992, but it was never released domestically in the US.

At some original releases of Vertigo, track 8 listed as "Sacred Children" instead of "Sacred Heart" on the back cover. However, the correct title remains on the disk and in the album booklet.

One of the advantages that Ronnie Dio had on this tour over previous ones is that he had the most technically and musically proficient set of musicians behind him ever. Bassist Jimmy Bain holds the bottom of the arrangement strongly, as he has consistently done since he and Dio began their collaboration in Rainbow. Drummer Simon Wright puts on a hell of a technical display during his allotted solo time, making one wonder how he managed to keep those insanely simple beats when in AC/DC without having a breakdown. Scott Warren proves apt to the task of playing all keyboard parts previously handled by the likes of Jens Johansen and Claude Schnell. But the true technical wizard of the bunch proves to be Doug Aldrich, whose interpretations of the various solos coined by Dio’s previous collaborators is rivalled only by his amazingly varied display during his own solo sections, hitting upon such contrasting styles as Classical, Rock, Jazz, and Blues.
This collection of live recordings is the document of this tour, and it features the grand wizard of darkness in fine performing form, covering all the well-known anthems, like "Holy Diver" and "Heaven and Hell", and throwing in some choice new tunes for a balance of old and new.
Dio fans will enjoy having this as a Diamond Souvenir!

The debut full-length studio album by legendary American Heavy Metal band.
Dio has been hailed as one of the finest voices in Heavy Metal for over 30 years now, and for good reason. Despite recording two hit studio albums with Black Sabbath and playing throughout the world to huge crowds, Ronnie James Dio left the band in 1982 and began to put together his first solo project.
Released on May 25, 1983, the album has been hailed by critics as Dio's best work and a classic staple in the Heavy Metal genre. The album quickly became a favorite among Headbangers worldwide and eventually earned the band Platinum certification. The somewhat upbeat sounding "Rainbow in the Dark" was an MTV favorite, while the title track proved to be another standout. "Holy Diver" proved that Dio's departure from Black Sabbath had not affected his spirits. In fact, he sounds most inspired here, aided by his new, hungry backing band.
The album was certified Gold in the US on September 12, 1984 and Platinum on March 21, 1989. In the UK, it attained Silver certification (60000 units sold) by the British Phonographic Industry, achieving this in January 1986, at the same time as “The Last in Line”.

Remastered re-release of the debut full-length studio album by legendary American Heavy Metal band.
Dio has been hailed as one of the finest voices in Heavy Metal for over 30 years now, and for good reason. Despite recording two hit studio albums with Black Sabbath and playing throughout the world ..
The first live album by legendary American Heavy Metal singer and his band.
The live songs were recorded with guitarist Vivian Campbell during the first leg of the Sacred Heart tour. Craig Goldy replaced Campbell in mid-tour, and the band wanted something to represent the new line-up, so they recorded in studio the song "Time to Burn" with him, which was added to this album.
"Time to Burn" is a only studio track (the first recording with Craig Goldie on guitar) - the rest tracks are live, recorded at the Sports Arena in San Diego, CA., December 6th, 1985.

Remastered re-release of the ninth full-length studio album by legendary American Heavy Metal band.
Originally released in 2002 through Spitfire Records on CD only, produced by frontman Ronnie James Dio, "Killing The Dragon" is a stronger effort than some of Dio's more recent offerings. Musically, this album reminds most of a cross between "Sacred Heart" and "Dream Evil", and holds up fairly well in comparison too. To Dio's credit, he has given up trying to modernize his sound by adopting a darker approach that resulted in a career low point in the shape of 1996's "Angry Machines" effort.
"Killing The Dragon" introduces guitarist Doug Aldrich to the band. He had previously performed with Burning Rain and subsequently went on to join the band Whitesnake. Previous guitarist, Craig Goldy, co-wrote some songs before leaving the band. He returned for 2004's "Master Of The Moon". New guitarist Doug Aldrich shines throughout the album. His style and sound is not that much different from Craig Goldy or Vivian Campbell. And it's nice to see ex Rainbow bassist Jimmy Bain providing a strong backbone with ex AC/DC drummer Simon Wright's steady power drumming. It is their final album with bassist Jimmy Bain. As for Dio, he can still carry a tune. Sure, he's older, but you wouldn't know if unless someone told you otherwise. Dio has as much energy, drive and determination now as he did 30 years ago.
Dio stated that the "dragon" of the album title refers to technology. He expressed concern with it threatening society in the future. Dio elaborated that the title track refers to "those who perpetrate injustices and what the world is doing to stop them. In fantasy tales, dragons were notorious for stealing children and feeding them to their babies. During the first part of the song, I sing 'Someone has taken a child.' The second part is about a cruel feudal lord. The third part is about 'electronic serfdom'". He also expressed belief that the computer has become a god in modern society. "It is a small god with an electrical heart (...) It is time to rebel against it".
On this album, Ronnie James Dio proves again, what he’s capable of!
The album was remastered in 2019 and first time reissued on vinyl in 2020 with updated album art.
A must-have album for all fans of Dio, or Heavy Metal in general!!

Remastered re-release of the ninth full-length studio album by legendary American Heavy Metal band.
Originally released in 2002 through Spitfire Records on CD only, produced by frontman Ronnie James Dio, "Killing The Dragon" is a stronger effort than some of Dio's more recent offering..
First re-release of the fifth full-length studio album by legendary American Heavy Metal band.
This album displayed a complete change of musician line-up over the previous “Dream Evil” album, including the eighteen-year-old guitarist, Rowan Robertson, and the addition of Simon Wright on drums who previously played with AC/DC (1983-1989).

"Magica" was released in 2000 by Spitfire Records (a division of Eagle Rock Entertainment) and marks the return of guitarist Craig Goldy, who also has performed on Dio's album "Dream Evil" and in the later release "Master Of The Moon".
Ronnie James Dio produced this concept album. The album was originally planned to be the first part of a trilogy of concept albums, and shortly before beginning his tour with Heaven & Hell, Dio announced his intention to start the "Magica II" and "III" album after the tour's end, but he died shortly after of stomach cancer on May 16, 2010.
While “Magica” did not spawn any major hits for the band’s impressive catalog, it still stands among Dio’s most intelligent and seminal works. It is certainly an album that meant a great deal to Dio personally. All the tracks were penned by Ronnie and longtime guitarist, Craig Goldy. The story is of good and evil; past, present, and future. The lyrical content is filled with bold imagery and colorful allegory. In short, everything we have always loved about Dio’s Metal aura lives and breathes in “Magica“.
“Evil Or Divine - Live In New York City” is a live album recorded at Roseland Theater in New York City, USA on December 13th, 2002 and released by Spitfire Records (a division of Eagle Rock Entertainment) in 2003 for USA and in 2005 for Europe.
There is a new version of the Dio live experience and it is sure to please. To those of you who thought that Dio was a has been and that he would hang it up at the turn of the millennium, may you suffer and die listening to CDs of this Set being played at full blast by your neighbors knowing just how wrong you were!!

Remastered re-release of the tenth and the final full-length studio album by legendary American Heavy Metal band.
Unlike many in the ageing Metal community, Ronnie James Dio still possesses the same powerful voice that fueled the genre through its late '70s and '80s heydays, and the reigning dark prince of Elfdom and two-time Black Sabbath frontman is still capable of writing killer songs.
"Master Of The Moon" resembles earlier works like "Last In Line" and "Sacred Heart" in its ability to buffer those one or two great tracks with seven or eight forgettable ones.
The album marks the return of guitarist Craig Goldy (ex- Guiffria), who also performed on Dio's "Dream Evil" (1987) and "Magica" (2000). Together with Craig Goldie, drummer Simon Wright (ex- AC/DC), keyboardist Scott Warren and bassist Jeff Pilson (War & Peace, ex- Dokken), Ronnie James Dio recorded an album which will surely please the die-hard Dio fans. Ten tracks, all mid-tempo but heavy, under an excellent production and a familiar voice that hasn't changed a bit and keeps on delivering evil dreams. All tracks are lyrically surrounded by that same mysterious mist R.J.D. likes using so much.
Though the album was recorded with bass guitar player Jeff Pilson, Rudy Sarzo (Whitesnake, Ozzy Osbourne, Quiet Riot, Quiet Riot, Queensrÿche, etc.) was called in for Dio's touring line-up.
One song, "Death by Love", was partly written by former "Magica" touring bassist Chuck Garric. There are no writing credits provided on the album's liner notes.
In 2019, "Master Of The Moon" was remastered, and for the first time re-released on vinyl in 2020.
"Master Of The Moon" is a very good album and highly recommended to all fans of Dio as well as all Heavy Metal worshippers!
