SANCTUS INFERNUM “Sanctus Infernum” /CD/

The debut full-length album by American Black/Death/Doom band.
A project of Mark Anderson from the legendary Manila Road!
The music can be described as a combination of Death/Black and Death/Doom Metal. The opening riff is haunting as is the ten minute epic “The Journey Back”. Songs like “God Unto Myself” sound like old-school Death Metal covered in tar and molasses. “Suffer” could have been a Six Feet Under outtake they shouldn’t have taken out. “Waking the Dead” is a slow rocked up Black tune that is pants-frostingly sweet. All the guitar work is stellar with memorable riffs up the ass and great leads. The tempo rarely changes except for “Suffer” and “What is Calm Without Storm” which change from trudging in tar to running in tar. And the vocals are great, legible, and scary. From time to time the riffs, the solo’s and the vocals approach the classic work of Tiamat “Clouds”.
Excellent recording quality and superior musician craft make this album different from many others. These guys are set to be the next big thing!
